Will it be a special family event?

Yesterday I took the wagon out to do an oil change. Went for a spin to loosen things up and thought I could smell gas on the way back home. Opened the hood and found large puddles of gas on the intake. I thought I had originally changed all the fuel lines when I bought it five years ago but i obviously missed a line. Six inch piece from the hard line to the carburetor. image.jpeg

I had to run out and get some 5/16" line. I had lots of 3/8" and 1/4" but of course no 5/16". I replaced the six inch piece to find that wasn't even the leak it was the fuel filter gasket.

You can see where it's split in half. Ran to the parts store again and they didn't have it in stock. So off on an hour round trip to get it in town and guess what. Filter doesn't come with that plastic gasket. Good thing I checked as I was walking towards the door. They found an aluminum crush type and off I went. Put it all back together and still a slight leak. Only wetness but now I've got one ordered from rock auto. Finally gave it an oil change and since I was under the hood I gave it new antifreeze. That only took 3 hours to flush and refill. Didn't like that it had that rusty crud inside so I ran three batches of rad cleaner before the water came out clean.

Did I mention that it rained all day yesterday?

It only matters if you worked outside.

Man, that totally sucks. I once pulled an engine (on the '82 Cutlass Cruiser I had no less) with the rain falling on me underneath the car, and installing an engine on a Merc Monarch when a cloudburst came up while I was laying in the gutter, underneath the car.

Just replaced the studs and reinstalled the door scuff plates for the MB E320. They have plastic studs holding those in and if you drag your feet across the door edge, they break as they get brittle.

the hose looked like it needed to be replaced anyways. Don’t ya love it? Spending more time going back and forth to the parts store than you do actually working on the car!!! Recently my wife called not long after she left for work in the morning. Saying her battery light was on. I told her to come on back and I’d look at it. Her alt. Was not charging so I called o’reillys, they had two the lady says. I go down there and they didn’t have any, must have been a mistake so I went to the next closest store 2 miles away. Got the thing come Home installed it in about 30min. The car wouldn’t even start. I jumped it off and it was still not charging. Everything looked right, so I took it back out and to the store where they tested it. It failed.thank god! So I had to drive another 17 miles to the Oreilly hub. Got one, came home, put it in. 4 hours later wife was finally headed to work! I probably spent an hour total doing the alt. And cleaning and replacing the clamps on her power steering reservoir. The rest was driving and waiting in the stores which I was fine with. Every moment spent not watching the kids is a break.

I was going to "like" your post silver but then thought about it and didn't think liking the fact you laid in a gutter in the rain was right, if you know what I mean. LOL. Only time I laid in a gutter was after one to many bottles of ripple

I sure wish I had had some alcohol that day! That's the second most bone-chilled I have ever been.

I sometimes thing the same thing, about "liking" some ones post. But then I think, it's not that I like what is happening but more that I understand or agree with what is being said.
I don't believe I have ever laid in a gutter but then again I have never had ripple either. :cheers2:

Found some buckets out of a 64 New Yorker or New port been a while since I pulled them out. I believe these are the same in a64 300? Nice hardback buckets and arm rest. Cut all the brackets and reinforcements should look factory when done and the seats are recovered to match the rest.

Lil'Sis got her new muffler yesterday. She is back to sounding normal again. I think there must have been a blockage somewhere that may have been causing her perform poorly. Because since the hole pop through she is back to working perfect again. Which is great because the truck is still under the weather. He is going for a compression test on Monday, fingers crossed he's reasonably fixable... I...we really like that truck. :(
