FINALLY got those parking brake struts, my dad and his buddy and I were out at the scrap yard and they found them on a full sized chev pickup, also got the new rad put in the 86 today, bought one last year and found out 2 days ago that it was 2 inches too short width wise, yet when I check the parts catalog that my store uses it shows the wrong one for my car.....technology, yup, great.
on the other hand i'm also thinking of buying a new coolant bottle as the one in the car is gross with rust slime in it and I just can't seem to rinse it out.

I actually pulled the Fury out of winter hibernation on Saturday.

    IMG_6834.JPG

Had to make a run to the recycler's, so we took the wagon.

Of course as soon as I got it out for spring and cleaned up it decided to rain the rest of the weekend.

Welcome to Washington State, the state that comes to you! That's from back in the day when Mt. St. Helens kept erupting.

Thanks! $140 off of E bay. Took about 3 hrs to get them both in and working.

Happened to me on my rear defogger glass. I just said screw it and put in a regular glass pane. Said to hell with rear defroster.

Up to about sis years ago, I had three rear windows, two with defogger grids, I couldn't sell those little SOBs to save my miserable life, so I threw them away. If I had known about this site before then, I wouldn't have thrown them away so easily.

I didn't exactly get to have a choice in keeping or throwing mine away lol. I was just driving down the road in town with the rear defroster on then all of a sudden my entire rear pain literally exploded into a million pieces. I don't know why it happened but I guessed a potential short in the system causing the grid to overheat somehow. And heat on a cold window don't mix all that well. So it just. Exploded. I thought I got shot at to be honest but nope. Just. Blew up.

Interesting. I'm reasonably sure they can't generate enough heat to explode if there are no flaws or totally sudden changes in temp (such as a douse of hot water onto the glass), but since the window never went all the way in on those, it's likely the top of the glass had damage to it and the uneven stress caused it to do that. Hah. A shop I once worked at had a mid-'80s Ramcharger in the parking out back, and one weekend, the two rear side windows blew out. Not broken inward, as in getting hit with a rock on each one, but just blown outward. Almost all the glass was laying on the ground, and it was the middle of August. Too high.

Happened to my neighbours old 86 Taurus wagon, they came out of the house one winter morning and the back window was completely shattered.

In the dead of Winter, in Ontario, that I can believe. My friend Joel's from Bear Lake MN, and in one of the late Seventies winters ('77, '78 or '79, I think it was '78), it was sooooo cold, the oil in his Mom's '75 CS had literally solidified. They had to roll it into the garage, seal up all the cracks and drafty holes, and put a baseboard heater underneath the oil pan to liquefy the oil enough to start it. He said it took two days of constant heating.

Got my 85 Colony Park back yesterday, care delivered to me in January, drove it about 2oo miles then wouldn't start, no power what so ever. Jumped it off the solenoid took it to my dealer, when they checked it out in January it had an intake manifold leak. upload_2017-3-31_8-10-9.png
so decided to get it really fixed and checked out.
    1> had both belts replaced
2> Electrical issues: wire to alternator burnt, replaced, wire to dash lights, burnt - replaced,
    wire to radio burnt, replaced
Found issue's with fuse box - replaced 4 fuses and the box. wow I have dash lights and a radio!
3> Intake manifold leak - new gaskets
4> Radiator hose and thermostat - replaced
5> Complete front/rear suspension check - replaced original shocks with Monroe - no upgrade just
went with OEM replacements - I'm not hauling or towing anything
    6. ALL fluids/oil and filters replaced.
total bill from dealer - $1463.61 including tax

I thought this was a very reasonable price for the amount of work done, Anyone have an opinon?

Knowing that the front suspension isn't going to fall apart, having lights and a radio, and that they didn't find anything else wrong give me a HUGE piece of mind.

To me, your's is the only opinion that matters.

It sounds like this statement answers the question best of all.
I'm glad to hear they did good work and that you are now back to cruising your wagon.
