    If I had to do it over, I would have read more about measuring the pros and cons of getting married before 35. I would have skipped 2 divorces (no kids) and done more travelling and living. No regrets though. I've done more than most, but it seems to me that the 'marriage' programming blinds us from other adventures, not related to 'nesting'.

    nesting! damn that nesting!

    thats the thing....gotta marry the one that shares, not just some of your interests but most. or if they dont share more than a few.....make sure they are tolorant of your intereests and hobbies, that way they will not be a stopping block to you doing things you love and their interest may grow.

    jen hasnt been a stopping block to my interests. just that hers and mine clash sometimes.

    My aim in life after secondary school was not bright. I had dropped out of school without completing my final year. Went out to work and couldn't find anything I really enjoyed. I decided to go for sales & marketing within the food & beverage industry. At the age of 19 I set my dream to become a millionaire by the time I was 30!!
    I had no time for a serious relationship, I did not believe in kids and did not even entertain the idea of settling down with someone!! I was blinded by my ambition.
    In my mid 20's, my dream was just about realised, cars, money big house and lots of friends (well I was so blinded I took these as friends). That same year it all came crashing down!! I lost everything and was out on my own.
    The so called 'friends' seemed to disappear at about the same time?!.(funny that?) Family support was limited and distant- but that was my own fault as I drove a wedge between family in my blind ambition. I regretted this, but it was too late!
    Out on my own, I found this old run down house to rent and shut myself away from the world for the next year!! After a while my brother asked me to go out to disco with him, I really did not want to, but that little voice inside your head keeps at it and before you know it...you're at the disco venue.
    Here I met the girl I ended up marrying!! 20 years later we have 2 wonderful children, a home and we still love each other very much even though what she likes doing and what I like doing are worlds apart we have grown to "live":) with each other.

    I guess that if there is moral to this story it would be along these lines;
    Sure there were some awesome times and experiences in the past. There was also a big price paid along the way. BUT, when I look at my wife and children now, I'm glad I paid the price!! Now I can't imagine my life without them!!
    Go out and make your life together! Enjoy your beach trips and map your own course from here on!!(y)
