sorry I didn't introduce myself. This is the first time I've ever joined anything like this and had no idea of what the protocol was. I was so excited the day I posted an ad for a luggage railing to my 62 chrysler newport wagon. I have always wanted a classic wagon ever since I was a kid and saw a Doris Day movie with a wagon and two sheep dogs in the back. My husband and I love all kinds of cars and he has a few old ones, Including a 29 ford model a roadster, 32 pontiac, another model a, not sure of the year. Last year I went shoe shopping and came home with a 2005 chrysler crossfire instead. We were at an auction the day of my first thread where much to my husbands surprise I started bidding on the wagon and bought it. I like to keep him on his toes and let him know women can buy cars too, sometimes our tastes are different. I love this car along with all our family who have seen it and can't wait to take on cruises and to Back to the Fifties car show this weekend. That's why I am anxious to find the missing parts. Sorry I don't even have a picture as our son is doing some brake work on it at his house.
Love your story. Goes shoe shopping and brings a car home. I can only imagine what would come home if you went car shopping! And you've got Number One son involved, too. Sounds like a fine family. Gotta warn ya, we're trying to lose weight here, so we snack on pictures, feed on pixels, and eat YouTube car movies for the main course. Good to have you here. If you need a morning chuckle, this is one of the best, for mixed company: http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4856
Great story. Classic car buying from a womans perspective. Fantastic. Men have to put on their game face for auctions. Fein indifference and cooly bid. You however wanted the car and simply bought it. The other bidders, I'm sure, lost all concentration. By the way did you ever get the shoes?
She's shopping for the wagon crown (roof rails). Top-down process. The wheels and tires (booties for the beauty) come later. I'm so looking forward to the pictures. I can see it in my mind. The rear fins of the late fifties were coming down. By 1964 they were all gone. I just can't picture the 62 Chrysler wagon. Don't think I ever saw one up here in Canada.
Not really related, except for some good Chrysler history of their luxury cars: http://www.imperialclub.com/Yr/index.htm This might help you find some parts, and certainly lots of tips and links. http://www.allpar.com/ And their links page does the rest: http://www.allpar.com/clubs/ This is for a hot, smeltering day when you need to stay inside. 110,000 links to anything on wheels, but lots of Chrysler links: http://www.automotive-links.com/ind/ind.htm And this puts the class into carbuilding history: http://www.coachbuilt.com/
