Awww my first TV crush died today... she was 80. I may not have gotten the plot as a kid but I always thought she was a funny, beautiful woman on the Mary Tyler Moore show... Great now I got the theme song running in my head... "Love is all around..." as she tosses her hat in the air "you're going to make it after all!"
The basic plot was of a freshly-divorced lady moving to the big city to start over her life. New apartment, job, dating prospects, etc.
kinda funny here. But I used to own an 88 Mercedes Wagon, that had ben previously owned by MTM since new. I googled Mary Tyler Moore and Mercedes Wagon and this thread popped up. This was 25 years ago that I owned the car. But still remember it for some reason. RIP MTM!!!
Why did they have it? Was it used in some of their TV productions? Have you looked it up on IMCDb.com?
I didn't look it up there just did a search. I was her personal car, her name was on The title and it was serviced at Mercedes of Manhattan, I recall. The person that bought it from me didn't care. It's not like Elvis owned it.
Sad, another reminder of the relentless passage of time. I saw her recently on Larry King or something and not trying to be disrespectful but she looked gawd awful. Not because of the way she aged but because of all the plastic surgery. I don't understand the obsession with youth. Old age should be something to be proud of! A lot of people never get there unfortunately. Take me for example, my #1 goal in life is to one day become an old man. I practice by talking a lot about the weather, reminiscing about the good ol' days, and grunting loudly whenever I sit down or stand up
Believe me Grizz it ain't the way you think it is. It took a lot of work getting this old. It ain't for you sissies! It's chilly, cloudy, and windy. The good ole days passed while I was asleep! Believe it or not I was in the class of '57 and had a dream. I grunt and body parts crack when I sit, stand, and walk. I miss all of the old TV and movie stars. We didn't have to worry what the kids were gonna see or hear back then. Even my favorite comedian Red Skelton signed off "May God Bless" while another funny lady tugged her ear and smiled for her mother. I loved Mary Tyler Moore. "Good nite Mrs Kalabash, wherever you are." Now git off my lawn boy!
