Hey everyone. Kind of new here. Purchased my wagon back in March. Since then I've discovered almost the entire drive train was shot but she's coming together.

The first day I got her home

    Rear end rebuild

Front end rebuild and disk brake upgrade

Suspension back together and new wheels on.

New tires rub.. Going to have to get smaller tires up front..

    Engine out

Broken bands in the transmission and two bent pushrods..

Nice. It's coming along nicely. Looking forward to seeing that FE back in the engine bay. Assuming it's a 390? Or maybe a 352?

HOw about some details on the disk brake upgrade. I've got a 63 Colony park and suspect I could follow your lead.

It's a 390 2v. Just had the block acid dipped and it looks pretty good. I was worried because all the expansion plugs or freeze plugs were rotted away. Two valves were rusted shut though and two pushrods were broken so I'm having the heads rebuilt right now. Should run like a brand new car once I get it back on the road.

Here's the brake setup I purchased. It comes with just about everything but was pretty damn pricey. Do you have any pics of the 63? I'd love to see it!

Does the kit come with the spindles? Just checked the link and don't see them in the pic.

Some pics of my Merc below.

That's a nice looking wagon. For some reason I tend to like light blue, mid 60's American made bullet nosed station wagons.

Nice looking Commuter. I'm a kindred spirit, however mine is a '67. I absolutely feel your pain when it comes to locating parts. They just didn't save many of the Commuters, and parts are hard to come by. Good luck!
