Pricy but nicey ........ Wish there were pics of the engine and interior, I really like the fact it's still original rite down to points and generator. Glad the rack and surf board are not included, I'd hate to litter and toss them in the ditch on the drive home!. Pep Peave..... I hate it when sellers post in Used Vic and just put "outside Victoria" for a location, For what that is worth the car could be in BC just by the Alaska border! Happened to me once when I responded to a parts ad, location was Fort St John BC.....only 24 hours drive away http://www.usedvictoria.com/classif...agon-belair-150-1956-1955-surf-nomad_25285862 Very rare 1957 Chevrolet 210 station wagon. Rock solid all original steel California car. Original rust free floor and body. Original 235 ci 6 cylinder engine with 3 speed on the column. Points distributor and old style generator electrical. Original interior. Loads of new chrome at the tune of $7500. many new parts still in the package valued around another $2500. Great fun car. Vintage Roof Racks and Vintage looking wood Surf board not included but can be negotiated in a deal if you want the current look. If you are serious......Make me an Offer in person!
I like that it still has the original six instead of the ubiquitous 350 crate motor. I could get behind a 327 4 speed swap, though! Nice looking Chevy!
That is a breath of fresh air, we had two 1957 Chevy 210s here, we owned the first one, a mint green 2 dr sedan with black and white seats, the second one was dark turquoise and white top and inserts, 4 dr. Daddy's boss bought the second one for him to drive back and forth from work. Neither car had even so much as a heater on them. Now I wish I had both of them back. The next door neighbors had a yellow '57 Bel Air 4 dr sedan with a white top when we moved here. I'm sure it was better equipped. I hope a collector gets that wagon and resists the urge to shove a 455 in it, and those huge wheels with the low profile tires on them. Save that for a car that needs everything.
I agree, someone needs to buy this wagon and enjoy it the way it is. My 55 already was modfied and had rust. I'd love to have an original with a six. Resist those 327's, 350's, and big blocks. Leave the bench seat in and big 22" hoops don't make an old car look nice! I don't have the room, time, or money or I'd check into this one. Great colors and lots of nice new chrome.
Have you tried to find a 327 lately?? What was once common has become pretty scarce. When I was drag racing with a 327 in the 1980s people thought I was a fool for playing around with a "little motor". My Nova more than held its own. Point is, nobody wants them anymore and Chevy stopped building them in '69. I love the nostalgic aspect of running a 327 with a M21 or T-10.
I only had one 327. It was in a good running 57 Chevy hardtop. I loved it. Son had a 327 in his 76 El Camino and it also ran great until he fed it way to much NOS thru three stages. Did the 307 replace the 327? I know the 307 was an economy high torque SBC for vans and mid sized cars.
The 307 replaced the 283. Same bore, longer stroke. The 350 replaced the 327 (even though there was a two year overlap) as the mid-level motor. The 327 was originally brought in to fill the gap left when the 348 was enlarged to the 409.
Hmmm...my wife got tired of our '56 Chevy 210 wagon that I went completely through, 305 engine, 350 trans, new interior and paint, and I even put in AC. Sold it for $1600 in '96. I can't believe what these things bring now.
