Hi guys, I had a few lousy months in the VA hospital fighting this damn cancer in my arm bone. The Doctor had the nerve to as me about amputation and I said "How the hell am I going to shift?!" Any way, I lost a bunch of weight and have a new haircut, but I am back and hopefully you all missed me. (I saw the bullets ricocheting of stuff behind me so you must have missed me!) Either way, I just wanted to drop in and say "Hi."
    Missed you guys,
    Cockroach Dave:dance:

    I've been in similar circumstances.
These situation demand that you set priorities and make some really tough decisions. Seeking the advice of experts then not heeding it seems counter productive to me. Decisions made now are irreversible.
My quality of life is good, very good, different for sure but has become the new normal. Had I not been aggressive you'd not be reading this post.
I remember your posts and wish you the best. :drink:

As human beings we have to make many decisions in life other than about our hobbies. Some of those are life and death decisions and that's where our old cars and other toys come in. They give us something to take our minds off our personal problems.
    Good luck everyone.
By the way Dave you didn't tell us about your sick baby!

Oh, just before I got sick I was tooling around town and had a throttle stick wide open. 9800 RPM is BAD!!! I cooked a piston and a cylinder and wasted the cam before I could shut it down. Its ok though. I figure if they're not breaking, You're not driving them hard enough!

I have a friend who had an old Chebby P/U with a 250/3-on-the-tree; one day he was getting on the freeway, and he went to shift into Third but ended up back in First because the trans was so worn and he let out the clutch. Apparently, he began skidding, which threw him sideways, so he couldn't push the clutch back in, and it threw a rod (#4, I think).

    Shiftless

Something nearly like that but not a disaster happened in our yeller 1941 Fordolette on our way back from the large Daytona Thanksgiving car show. I'd slowed down at a light or something, windshield was fogging up, wife reached over with a rag to wipe my side off... windshield not mine.... and she bumped the column shifter putting the turbo 350 into low or reverse while I was going forward. (Yes, Fordolette, 350 Chevy, 350 auto, Nova rear, makes any Ford dependable!:rofl2:)
The poor car squealed and smoked and killed the engine. I just started it up and been driving it for years since. I did have a few :badwords:words:badwords: with my almost Ex-wife!
