Restored before I bought and color changed from factory white to white/desert rose. New brown/tan uinterior to match. Formerly used by John Wayne's family to shuttle kids to/from school. 352, 3speed automatic, power steering & brakes & windows & driver seat. Factory A/C. Learned reading Tbird history that 25% of 1960 had A/C. Rebuilt engine, trans, suspension. Added headers with 2.5" pipes - really helped cruising. Changed vacuum wipers to electric. Added remote door locks. Built home brew illuminated exhaust tips. Wheel covers are 1963 Galaxie with center spinner replaced by a small moon. Chromed front piece of hood air scoop.
Sweet ride plus it was John Wayne's so it even has some neat history to it. Wouldn't be surprised if the headliner has a little indentation over the driver's seat from the Duke himself.
I'm sure he didn't drive it, as his vehicle purchases usually were ordered with a roof extension so he could wear his Stetson. It likely was driven by a housekeeper or their mother.
Was owned by engineer who ran Wild Goose yacht. You are right - said John did not drive it as he was too tall. Wife did use the Tbird. They were all like one family.

The 'Wild Goose' was John Wayne's boat - an old Navy PT boat or frigate or something - pretty famous down in Orange County where I used to live. He had a dock right in front of his home on Newport harbor. (Newport Beach). The boat might even still be down there.
Gee Wizz - Thank You - such a compliment. Wife liked it so much - told me to buy the Tbird. Was in Sacramento. Flew there and drove home. Must admit I never would have thought of doing repaint in that color. Had to see it finished to realize it works. Will take interior pictures to post.
Me likes the square Birds better than the early or later ones. Nice Job! That's an awesome period color on it.
Me too. Almost bought a few of them since retiring. But I realized I needed another old car like another hole in the head.
Googled it and apparently it was a converted 136' minesweeper. It's still around and now available for charter in the Newport Beach area. Rumor has it John Wayne's ghost stops by and hangs out every now and then.
