Well at least my Wifes car has not let us down!!! Well my daily driver F-150 had the Antilock Modual fail, and it is still at the Dealer awaiting a fix. I thought no problem I have several other cars I can Drive. Went out to start the 78 Impala Wagon and smoke started pouring out of the hood and Dash (turned out to be a Fuseable link caused by a previous owner hooking the A/C compressor clutch up to the 12V source for the Blower Motor) Well had to get to work Monday so I went in for the Keys for the 97 Firebird and they were missing, BOTH SETS!!!!! Ok I will have to drive the 69 Firebird Sprint so I called the boss and told him I would be an hour or so late, changed the Oil on the old Bird and drove it to work.
On the way there I noticed a few things not working that worked last fall when it was put away, the Gas Gauge (still not working) Horn (replaced yesterday now good) Blinkers (T/S to a bad switch Fix TBD) Ignition Key Cylinder sticky (will address when the Blinker switch is changed) Dome Light (don't know why yet) and the Blower Motor (the wire connection had fallen off the motor for some reason). Then after getting to work, I went to roll up all the windows, and the drivers Side 1/4 window fell down into the car after a creak and snapping noise. Turned out the 45 year old plastic rollers had given up. What a Pain to replace. Luckily NPD had them in stock, and I was able to replace them yesterday.
While I was there I figured I would pick up some new Carpet, to replace the 20 year old faded carpet with the gapping hole were the 4-speed shifter was. The car now has a T-5 five speed that moved the shifter back about 6 inches. And I took the opportunity to install the heat reflective insolation I bought for it 10 years ago! The drivers side gets alittle hot with both the headers from the OHC-6 going under my feet!

Just needed to vent alittle. I finally had some time to work on Projects, and it was eaten up by cars I thought were OK, I guess they all needed alittle Love this week!

Yikes Jeff, some bad car karma for you this week! Sounds like you'll be staying on top of it, though. Good luck on your fixes.

So, I've never had a chance to work on a Poncho with the OHC-6; what's the performance like? is it better than a standard six, but not as good as a small-displacement V8?

Actually better than a small 2bbl V-8, less than a 326 or 350 4bbl. But that is with a Manual Trans, they do not perform well behind the St-300 2-speed auto's. Better with a T-350 3-speed auto.

Mine performs much better than stock, stroked to 301ci with a Chevy 292 crank, 9.0 CR, 3 into 1 headers, HEI, and a Cam Change. T-5 manual with 4.11 gears. Runs the 1/4 in 13.50's at 104mph.

But a Stock OHC-6 Sprint with a 4-speed and 3.55's will do high 14's low 15's in the 1/4 mile at around 92mph

They are fun cars. Mine was Built to beat a former neighbors 86 5.0 Mustang, he said it never would. He was wrong of course.

Yeah - if it's not one thing, it's another.

Right now, the Way Back Machine is dead. I think I had a slow electrical draw on it from somewhere, and I wasn't driving it every day, so now the Wally-Mart battery is dead as a door nail.

Like my Grandmother Eleanor used to tell me "Mark it could be worse"
This was coming from one beautifully tough woman whom I miss dearly.

She overcame many obstacles up to the time of her death. R.I.P.

She lived to 98! Miss you Grandma!

Let's all give thanks to what we have. Cheers!:drink:

Well things are improving, the Truck is supposed to be repaired under warranty, My Lovely Wife found 1 set of Keys for the 97 Firebird last night (were I dropped them by mistake I am sure!) Changed the Fusable Link on the 78 Wagon Last night, and found the melted connections in the A/C Harness (underhood and under the dash) replaced them, and the blown fuses. And resourced the power for the A/C Compressor Clutch so hopefully this event will not reoccur.
And I at least started on the 69 Birds issues. Having a better day today than Fri-Monday. Thanks for all the good will
