The dreaded SMOG TEST!

Soon we will all have to wear a flatulence recovery system!

 

They say that flatulence gasses have methane in them.So,you cut one,your seat sucks it up and delivers it to the intake.For a few seconds your car runs---different---and the people behind you get to smell burnt fart. Yup,that's a wonderfull idea. Now that you've mentioned it in our public forum,I'm sure it'll show up in Congress any day now. And,what better way to get rid of green house gasses,is there? Wahoo!!!

 

Suck the fat-ass gasses from congress and bottle it up.

 

You could run the entire country for eternity on THAT much gas!!

 

They could power all the wind farms world wide with all the hot air.

 

That could bee---but only if all the Congrssmen agree to face the same direction...

 

Failed smog on 76 ltd country squire

I just got it smogged an it failed. the shop cited the following things... modified spark control vacuum lines, missing delay valve, disconnected egr and Tac vacuum lines, a missing wide open throttle valve and improper ignition timing. The vacuum lines were stated to be routed the wrong way. I'd like to know if any of you know how to fix any of these problems. the co% was barely above max and the NO was grossly above tolerance. Do I need those parts or could I fix the problem by dealing with the timing and rerouting the vacuum lines correctly?

 

You will NEED to install the EGR for the test. That is one reason the NOx is too high. Set the timing right, and get the vacuum lines run properly. The car will likely run better, too. Make sure the Thermactor system is operating as designed, too. It does make a big difference, both to how quickly the cats fire off and how much pollution is produced by the engine. I think the Chilton's and Hayne's manuals have the vacuum diagrams and for sure, the factory service manual will. It is not all that complex, anyway. Good luck.
