Makes one wonder why FoMoCo was lagging behind on that.Maybe they didn't think that FM radio stuff was going to catch on,or somrthing...I read somewhere, that only Lincoln Continental could be got with AM/FM in 68.The rest of Ford's products were supposed to have followed suit in 69.69 was the year LA got 95.5 KLOS,it's oldest surviving FM rock station.

I've been listening to that station since day 1 - 40 years!
Taranau - you're probably too young to remember 'Color Radio'. Radio station KFWB was playing rock and roll in the 50's, before FM became popular. I used to go to bed and turn the radio on in the dark, listening to all the hits for a while.......

    Iraq....again, for now.

The funny thing is AM is a superior radio wave but FM got the go ahead from the FCC to broadcast in stereo where as AM could not.

I listen to AM Radio every day. AM1350 Oldies, AM900 WDLS and 920 WOKY both classic country. WOKY was the big top 40 station in the 60's and 70's in Milwaukee, and recntly just changed its format from those top 40 songs of the 60s and 70s to classic country. And in the wee morning hours of 6am and prior, I can even pick up AM650 WSM from Nashville! I think it's the oldest continuously operating station in the US and home of the Grand Ole Opry!!!

As far back as I can remember KFWB has been an all news all the time station. When I was growing up,all us kids listened to AM.Whether it was crystal radios or transistor radios. The station to listen to was 93 KHJ---Boss Radio...The radio station,Gary Shinoda said Boss 302's,429's and Mustangs were named after,on an episode of My Classic Car.(in response to Pontiac naming a level of GTO after Sammy Davis's Here Come Da Judge)Crystal radios in my neighbourhood only got KMPC 710 AM,which wasn't too bad, Dick Whittinghill and Gary Owens were on that station.
