sooo.... the orange CJ7 was a bit more of a project than i anticipated and after a lot of help from my buddy chase and his dad and a mechanic friend. we swapped out the motor and put a built 4.2 in that someone had junked in a parts jeep. it ran like an animal but the headers were constantly comming loose and the brakes kept giving me issues. so i decided to let it be someone elses headache. i got my money back out of it and a little more. for the past three weeks i looked at wagons, B Bodies, D bodies, a 71 ford wagon that looked promising...but when i got there it was a complete rot box...unsavable. yesterday i looked at a 64 biscayne that might have had promise before but after the owner had driven it in a few winters...i needed considerable body work. so this morning my buddy mike and i went to look at a 1965 pontiac lemans sedan for $4800. needless to say i wasnt expecting much. much to my surprise ... the car was super clean and straight. a 326 4bbl/hydromatic car with posi! 31k original miles! i offered $4500 and he accepted. wow do i love this car. i needs a couple little odds and ends (the rear suspension is creaking and it needs a tune up.) but it is imaculate.
Nice! She is a Beaut! I love the look of that car, even with the more door option. Put a nice dual exhaust set up on that thing and cruise it.
VERY nice! Does it smell like one of those 60's GM cars? I can't describe it, but GM cars in the mid 60's had a distinctive smell in the interior - not unpleasant, just distinctive. All my cars had basically the same smell - the '63 Cutlass, the '64 Ventura, the '66 Corvair. Even the '68 Firebird I had for a short while later on....... Here's a page from the '65 Pontiac brochure:
Yeah, my grandparent's '66 Delta 88 4-door and my '70 Delta 88 2-door had that same smell. It was the vinyl they used in the seats and door panels, because when I'd lay down on the rear seat (Seatbelts? Pfft.) and it was strong.
She's a beaut, Ian! Krash, you mean this stuff? http://www.chemicalguys.com/Chemical_Guys_AIR_101_16_New_Car_Smell_p/air_101_16.htm
I would say no, Norman. This wasn't a smell that you could add to the car. It was part of the car, and specific to GM stuff. Fords and Chryslers smelled - different.
I think it's silver or very light blueish! The car behind it is blue and the truck in the other photo is red.
