The cross member from the 90s Impala SS will fit, as they use the same basic frame. When my brother looked into a dual exhaust for his 86 Parisienne Safari with the 305, the shop was honest and told him NOT to do it. The reason given was that the 305 valve springs are weak, and need the back pressure of the single exhaust to work properly. He was warned that while the fuel economy would improve, the durability of the engine would be gone, and that he MAY get but another 30,000 miles out of it. By staying with the single exhaust, his engine was still healthy when the floor fell out of the car at 350,000 miles.
400 SBC built and ready for install. Using z28 valve springs and stainless valves.. Hedman 61608 headers. Going with dual cats and dual exhaust.
I used a partial section of an original crossmember and welded it to the top of the one currently in my car. Then I cut the bottom out to the inside of the top of the tube. Finally I welded scrap pieces over the open ends where I cut the bottom out.
So your wagon is a 91-96... Why not just buy a double hump from an impala or cadi.? Will my 73 Monte Carlo double hump fit? There has to be a way to do this with factory parts...
