The paint looks nice from the pictures. So does the door. Almost always hard to match colors like that.
That is a awesome save on the door. As for the colour match, It's just part of it. Sun, rain fade exactly how the new paint is mixed all ways take there toll and getting a dead match is next to impossible if your paint is a few years old.
I've had some busy evening this week and managed to finish one wing and two doors. The old decal wasn't too difficult to remove with the toffee wheel, then just a quick wipe over with adhesive remover on a bit of wire wool and job done I am quite happy with the result so far although the wrap isn't an exact match it certainly looks miles better than it did before. Anyway I was wondering if the fibreglass trims look anything like they are supposed too as I've nothing to compare them with? Cheers Phil.
Looking good Phil! The original surround trim was lighter, but what you've done is just fine. What a difference in the overall appearance of your CS!
Thanks, I am chuffed to bits with it to be honest, I am going away in it to the Nostalgia National this weekend and I'd love it if Id had time to do the whole car, but at least it obvious that it's a work in progress.
Have a good time at the show - it will be fun for spectators to be able to see the "before" and 'after". By the way, where did you source the new wood grain?
Just been out to the garage to take another look and the rear wing doesn't ½ look shabby, can't wait to get the whole thing finished. The woodgrain came from Stripeman in Florida. Cost me about £600 back here including shipping and tax, but it does look right with the black lines in it.
Finished Finally got the job finished and I am really pleased with the result, thanks everybody for the advice and encouragement. Cheers Phil.
Great Job on the repair. I realize that this thread is a wee bit ancient - but I wonder if you would answer a 2 questions. 1) how do you remove the fiberglass trim pieces. 2) is the finish on the fiberglass trim paint that you did or is it some kind of vinyl adhesive/tape similar to the large dark wood section? thanks in advance! jer
