Here's his ebay page. http://myworld.ebay.com/ebaymotors/mostly_unusual_cars&ssPageName=STRK:MEFSX:SELLERID I couldn't find the website. There are no wagons on auction right now, but he may have a few in stock.
wow...everyone is sending me pix of all these wagons to buy....I didn't think my choice was THAT bad! I know it's rough but it's the only black with wood I could find. Hey, guys...I DID buy a round trip ticket...walking away and flying back is not a problem for me. Done it many times. BLACKFOOT...coincidentally, I did look up where you lived before your post here. I was hoping for a meet myself. Great minds think alike. Unfortunately, if I get the car I will be traveling I-80. If I don't, I'll be traveling back I-sky. And the 4L60 is basically a 700-R4 with electronics.
Paint is paint, I wouldn't buy a car because it's the right colour. You want something mechanically sound and rust free.
Yeah, paint is not that hard to change, just time consuming. I dont really care for the dark blue of my Roadie, its the car that sold me on it. The wife wants me to paint it Sandlewood(tan), like our Monte Carlo, but Im not sure yet.
Well, thats sux, I-80 is about 1.5 hours south of me, wish/hope you reconsider as I-86 hook right onto I-90 which will take you clear into Wisconsin. Yeah, its a little out of the way at first, but you still have to come north from I-80.
HandyAndy...do you know something I don't about this car? Blackfoot, IF I'm driving and not flying, I will consider your plan. All I did was look at the map. I would like to be on the road no more than 2 days and the trip is around 1100 miles. Makes me laugh now that I think of that.....When I was a young guy I would drive straight through from St Pete, FL to Madison, WI. Those were the days. Anyway, Blackfoot...let's see how it shakes out.....if I make the buy, when I leave, etc. I'll get info from you before I leave and then get back to you on the road before I begin heading back.
Cool, there is a Holiday Inn Express right here in Findley Lake, just off I-86, its not quite 1/2 way home from NYC, but you will probably be leaving out in the mid to late morning and its about 8-9 hours to NYC from here. But yeah, PM me and I will get you my info.
Stormy...no problem there! If I like the car the BIGGEST problem I have is DRIVING in NYC!! It's one huge game of chicken!
Yeah, we have to go down to that slum of a hole in the wall as soon as we have enuff saved up. Im not takin the babies, they are gonna stay with my parents. No way in hell am I putting their lives in danger in that crime infested dump.
Personally, I don't understand why people like or buy black cars! Their hot as all hell, hard to keep clean & wax, you can see every mark and tiny scratch on them, acid rain marks, etc, etc, etc. Maybe it's just me, I just don't see the alure! That wagon looks good for the price, I would just like to see what the underneath looks like first! And if it's from the NY City area you can sure bet the suspension is all worn out too, rattlels, etc, etc, etc! You can already see the dull paint on the bumpers, no underhood PICS! Remember, these wagon's rust from the inside out when looking it over! Done a CarFax on it? If it were me I would call Fred, tell him what your looking for and want to spend and he'll find it, if anybody can Fred can! He buys and has sources all over the US. Fred has literally sold thousands of these wagon's and he knows what he's talking about, meet him or talk to him, he's a friend for life period! I picked up a wagon for Fred a couple miles down the road for him & put it on the truck for him, met him at WagonFest, he's just a hell of a B-Body guy! I wish you good luck finding your dream wagon! Clark
Im not big on any dark colors, I love tans and silvers. You can go months without washing and they still look clean. NYC doesnt get the snow that the rest of the state does, nor do they use the salts that we do here. Is that car a lifelong resident of NYC? Thats another thing to consider. Under the hood shots isnt really gonna tell you much. We all know what a B-Body LT1 looks like under the hood, they came either TBI or Multiport with the guly triange hat. Rockers and rear 1/4s are what I would be lookin for pics of. The frames on these are thick and strong, so I wouldnt worry about the frame being rotted out unless its at the rear bumper mounting areas when the crap all end up being tossed. My Roadie is a FL car and its very clean underneath, the 1/4s and rockers are virtually spotless. The paint is shot on the hood, front bumper and roof, but its only paint afterall. Fred is the guy to talk to if this car doesnt pan out. I will be making the trip to Wagonfest '09 and meating the legend that is Fred for the first time. I hope some of you GM guys make it out there too.
I hear THAT, Blackfoot! Clark...I do Carfax on all the cars I look at and there are other ways dealer's can check a car through the original sales point and the state etc that supercedes Carfax. Doesn't tell you how the car was treated but it will track it pretty well and you can see where it's been and gives you a real good guess at the mileage etc. This Buick is from a guy in CT. Must have money...big place. It's the last couple of years that the car gets hazy and that's what bothers me. There are signs on the car that a kid had it for awhile but I don't know if it's the kid of the original owner or not. Last couple of years could have built more miles too. I was damn good at spotting good or bad cars when I had my lot. I say WAS because I'm sure I'm rusty in that department but I'm hoping it's like riding a bike.....
