While I am not restoring I am going to be doing a lot of cosmetics to it. Reinstalling the rubber mouldings and such. Will post my progress here. I am going to drive it a few days a week to work, the wife and I are even talking of getting rid of her mini van and her driving my truck since she travels half the distance that I travel. That is the plan anyway but plans and me usually don't work out! It will be a few weeks to get everything worked out but I found my first thing that has to be done. It started running rough today then died, started back up and it was like it was overloading with gas, then I smelled the smell of rotten eggs and knew the catalytic converter was stopped up. So guess I will have that done in next week or two. Glad it didn't happen on my long trip home!
I did some decoding and looking because I haven't got to fully assess my new wagon but here were some of the things I found: G80- limited slip rear GU5- 3.23 gear AG1- 6 way pwr. frt. seat AG2- 6 way pwr. frt. seat AU0- remote keyless entry C68- Auto HVAC DD1- inside rear view mirror with compass DL8- L & R elec. remote mirrors with defrost DV1- roof window sun shade F40- susp. G67- Auto air level control K60- 100 amp alt. That is some of the RPO codes car has. Sure I will be figuring out more for a long time.
Great looking wagon. If the cat is stopped up, change the O2 sensor(s) when the cat is done. They get dirty, causing a 'run rich' situation, and that will clog the cat faster than anything else.
I'm gonna try this weekend but have a full plate with things I have neglected playing with other wagon and this one took all of this weekend that passed to get the deal done but hoping to get to play with one of them.
It went from one I listed in CL section thinking someone closer might grab it. (It was in Tuscaloosa, Alabama) It was listed at low retail for $1750. I put my boat up for sale again since it is getting close to boating season. I also put a give away price for what it is. 2 hours after listing boat had 4 potential buyers so I listed them 1 through 4 and explained I went in order they contacted me. #2 went by and seen boat while I was at work and said consider it sold but I told him I had to offer to 1st buyer 1st. Which was a father & son who bought it, so I e mailed wagon seller and it took off from there. It consumed my whole weekend trying to get details worked out. He stayed firm on price because he put a new $110 battery in it. I think it was a decent buy with travel expense and even putting a cat on it will still be around $2200.
Thanks, I figure since my box wagon is taking so long with my knee, back and hip that I can get it inside and spend a hour or two chipping away at it and have this one to drive. I look at it as traded my fishing skiff for it. As much as I loved my skiff, it has been sitting for 8 months. When I last took it out I couldn't move for 2 days so using it is no longer a option for me until I get a knee which is still at least a year from now and longer if I can stand it and you know that is the worst thing for a boat is to sit there and these days I get more enjoyment out of the cars we have. Oh yeah, I have grounds for a divorce also because my wife told me I am ridding the world of big, ugly cars 1 at a time by buying them and putting them in our yard! I told her all I needed to do is make one post here and I could have a angry mob here to deal with her for calling wagons ugly!
We're getting an angry mob posse together right away. But possibly your wife is suffering from cabin fever and will regain her senses shortly. Let her drive the latest wagon maybe she will see you need to keep saving these things one at a time.
With a serious smile, just tell her....'keep it up honey, your next car just may be.......... ...........But it's "NEW" honey" Lord knows I've brought all kinds of cars home with out notice since I've been together with my honey, yet never a complaint except for 1.............. ......Mind you, she only hated it once she saw the interior hack/slash/butcher attempt job at customizing by the previous owner, a young guy at work who must have been smoking the wrong stuff IMO....... I have to admit it was a job so bad that I never insured the car and deemed it for parts only use.. A month prior when I saw the car the interior was still decent
