The halo ones, you're talking about with the white light around the screen. I dabble in vintage everything...My grandparents bought a 1951 Admiral Console, when they got married. One of the big ones with the built in record player and everything, I'd like to come across one of those!

Yeah, one of those. A few of our neighbours have some old stereo/TV combos. Most of them bought them new, and put the new flat-screen above them like they were a temple altar!

If I spot one available, I'll PM ya. Some of our secondhand shops sell them cheap too.

    those old time stereo consoles

When I was a pre-teen,my parents had a stereo console that had the TV,a reel to reel tape player and a turntable with two arms. One arm for 33's and 45's and the other for 72's and 16's---because they took a different needle...AND,they had a bunch of records for each speed on the turntable(mostly Dixieland Jazz)as well as a bunch of tapes on six inch reels. We also had a portable reel to reel tape player/recorder that used a studio mike on a stand. It had a battery pack, could run off a car battery(in the car or not)or could plug in a regular wall socket.Oh,and it(the stereo console)had a radio in it too.No FM,but damn near everything else, including CB.I think you could even hook up a mike and talk on the CB(my parents weren't into that though)...And they brag about all the things phones can do now.:disagree:

Boy, sounds like a heck of a console. I still have our childhood TV, it was a magnavox console that my folks bought in 87. Still use it!

I'd consider marrying most any woman who brings this Opel Admiral into the relationship:

Any woman bringing in a Hogan's Heroes slanty-eyed version had better be pretty charming:49: :
