I'm trying to figure out what color to paint my '65 Impala wagon. I'm already dead set on doing a red interior but I'm trying to find a complimentary color thats not your standard black, white, or silver. My buddy helped me photoshop a few different colors onto my wagon, let me know what you think please. My personal favorite is the light blue...

    Pepto Bizmal pink!:rofl2::banana:

Or the light blue. But would red look good in the blue wagon?

Maybe just Mary Kay pink then!:rofl2::taz:

With a red interior, I always found an earth tone color on the exterior to work well together. This is what the factory typically did as well. As an idea, what if you two-toned the exterior making the roof match the red interior or add interior seat inserts the same color as the roof color.

A friend of mine had a Buick LeSabre 4 door hard top with the red interior, and it was painted the perfect colour to highlight that red inside. It was 1989 Ford Dark Cranberry Metallic. It is not a burgundy, it is a very, very dark, very clear red.

No need to limit the color choice to just one color.
In this video, color changes based on electrical voltage to body panels.

Too bad the technology probably isn't quite there yet that would make this video real.

I voted burgundy, since a red interior is already planned. The other choices are all blue, and I don't think blue goes with a red interior at all. That is not to say it hasn't been done. There is a 68 GTX convertible that I've seen at some shows that is blue with white stripes and top and the interior is two tone maroon and white from the factory (white seats, carpet and door panels and maroon dash, carpet, console and painted trim).

In '65 GM offered a purple color on the Impala, Evening Orchid, which coupled with a Black interior on the Impala SS Coupe looked awesome.

Red interior? Frankly I'd paint exterior white if it was mine. Sorry, the red or blue ext wouldn't work for me.

Haha! What an awesome concept! Ford offered a shade shifting color on the Mustang a few years ago I believe? Mystic or something like that?

I would go with a better color to go with the red interior than blue.........I will also say that if you stick with doing it any shade that contains red pigment that the cost of the paint will be much higher. Red paints are the most expensive.
Personally I would 2 tone it.............do the bottom a white and the top another shade of red. White also hides any imperfections in the body .

Like others, I'm not really feeling the blue on red scheme. I voted Burgundy. I kinda agree with the earthy tones. Maybe something like this.

    I voted burgundy also

Cool video, Jim. I could see bank robbers having a big interest in that, pull up and rob a bank in a green charger and take off, switch it to purple around the corner and watch the cops drive rite past you.:dancing:

Thanks for the input so far guys, I appreciate it for the most part...I didn't like the idea of light blue with a red interior at first either but it has really started to grow on me. The OE red interior from 1965 is a dark red so it actually doesn't look bad with the blue, but I can completely understand that it's not for everybody.

I like the darker blue. Will there be any pin stripes or wood grain trim?

My 92 Cadillac Brougham was burgandy with a matching vinyl roof, red leather, dash, carpet, etc. It is a stunning car in my opinion. I think it would look great on your car with the chrome rims I think I saw in the pic.

It's kind of spooky when you can find pics of your own car on Google....
