...and my name really is Guy! I've always loved wagons and they just bring back memories of the good ol' days. I'm an old VW freak, had probably 15 of what VW called station wagons (Transporters), but I'm too old to be freezing my arse off in the winter and sweatin' like a pig in the summer! I actually crossed the country on Route 66 in a 57 Chevy wagon when I was a kid...Anyway, my latest wagon is a 79 Mercury Zephyr, but it doesn't say Zephyr anywhere on it. It says Villager on the tailgate and is a Ghia Signature Edition (whatever that is!). Factory 302, auto, AC and cruise. I guess it was a pretty well optioned wagon back in the day. I'm gonna try to post a pic, but if you don't see it, I was unsuccessful... Added my old 83 Malibu...
Thanks for all the welcomes! I need to reload my camera software to take some more pics and go take a look around the site now...Thanks again!
First up is an altitude adjustment. I have Eibach springs, new struts, ball joints, caster/camber plates, blah, blah, blah...The Fox bodies are truly a different animal and I'm just trying to figure them out. It sure aint my old '66 Fastback!
I always liked the idea of owning one of these that looked more-or-less stock, but upgrading the underlying mechanical components. As an original owner of a Fox-bodied car, I can testify that they were built to a price-point, and many of the mechanical parts weren't especially durable.
Did you say my wagon was a cheap piece-o-crapola? That's probably why there aren't many around anymore...
Welcome aboard Guy! I absolutely love your Zephyr wagon. It's in great shape and has flair with the woodgrain sides. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima I was also bitten by the VW bug years ago. Owned a '68 Type III squareback, a '67 21 window bus, and a '72 Type II van...besides a fleet of Beetles. Thanks for sharing the pics...oh BTW, where did the Malibu station wagon pic come from? It looks familiar. Do you still own it? Jack
