400 V8. No reserve. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-O...65d9d7bf3&item=370937789427&pt=US_Cars_Trucks Very rough, but it does have a/c, 3rd seat and power tailgate.
Same brown exterior/interior color as my Dad's '72 Buick Estate Wagon. But the interesting part is the black steering wheel and area around the dash gauges and controls that really make this Chevy look cheap. But what am I talking about? My Dad's Buick has black seat belts and the Chevy has the color-keyed brown. What was GM thinking back then? Just an observation guys.
Well typing this again... I accidentally closed it a minute ago when I was trying to post a pic. lol. Yeah, the Impala had a much cheaper look. Any trim lower than the top level Caprice for 71-72 looked low trim. For some reason GM decided to put black steering wheels/columns in the 71-72 big Chevys, despite interior color, but thankfully they changed it for 73. At least the 71-72 Caprice wagons did have wood-grain accents on the driver-side of the instrument panel and steering wheel hub. Thankfully my car has a black interior, so the black wheel/column worked out fine. lol. Yeah, the seatbelts being color-keyed was an individual option back then. I have seen several Buick Estate Wagons and Pontiac Grand Safaris with black seat belts, even with a blue or brown interior. *Also, my '72 Caprice wagon has padded cargo area panels, whereas this Impala wagon looks to be hard plastic. Was the padded panels a Caprice extra? I had never noticed before. Here is a quick peek of my instrument panel, this '72 Impala Kingswood appears to be the same color as my '72 Caprice Kingswood Estate... you can see the difference between the '72 Caprice and '72 Impala dash panels. This is a recent photo... ... and this one is about 4 years old... and here is that '72 Impala wagon dash... My padded cargo area panels... and this Impala on ebay appears to have hard plastic panels... this one is busted...
(IF I am not mistaken)... Another interesting thing is that this Impala wagon appears to have Caprice wagon door panels... note the Caprice emblem on the door panel. The Impala wagon had a Chevy bowtie if I recall. Either Chevy made a mistake and installed Caprice door panels on this car, or someone has replaced them. From the looks of the dash and cargo area panels, it would not surprise me if the original panels were trashed and were replaced with these...
Pretty rough for a Cali car...even rust holes in the middle of the hood. But it does have the custom one off over flow bottle hold down....
72, there is the, just maybe, the engine you need to get yours purring again! Combine this mess with your beauty, and you could have a great running, gorgeous clamshell in the driveway!
