    I guess that makes sense. I've forgotten to take an ad down myself a time or two after the sale. I do however take the ad down at some point if only to stop the ongoing responses.

    Alright everyone. Here's your chance to make some money. If you can find this car and make the deal work between the owner and me, I am willing to pay a finders fee of $2000. I am willing to pay the owner in this add up to a max of $8,000. Sure wish the owner would respond, but I have had no response as of now. This is the identical car I had a long time ago, and it's worth it to me to get the vehicle home. I have no intentions of a resale. Anyone?

    Here's a dumb question, How is Kijiji pronounced? I've seen it written many times but never heard it said.

    I heard it in an online or TV ad once if I recall correctly. They pronounced it as KihJEEjee.

    Seems I may have to hold off on the Canadian wagon offer while I consider another option! I'll get back to everyone shortly. Phil

    Phil, I just sent you a PM.

    I replied to the Kijiji ad, thinking if I went to the Toronto Auto Show I might take a detour through Alma, just for the hell of it. But got no reply to my e-mail.

    Possibly their internet is disconnected. Or they have a really efficient "junk mail" filter. Or they've gone on vacation. Or they just like to receive e-mail.

    Note, I'm not interested in any monetary reward. Just the satisfaction of helping a fellow member of the Country Squire Brotherhood. :D

    Phil, if you drive up, you might want to print and bring a copy of the Kijiji ad with you. I don't know if Canadian border agents are the same, but for some reason the U.S. border agents ask to see proof when I tell them I'm crossing the border "to look at a used car". Having a copy of the ad with you helps.

    Suspicious bunch, those border agents. It must be my shifty eyes. o_O

    Also, don't forget your passport! Or "enhanced driver's license" (whatever that may be; a friend of my aunt's had to get one to come to Canada).

    No problem on the passport. The copy of the add is a smart idea. Now the bigger question: how does one buy a car and bring it across the border from Canada into the US (assuming I buy a vehicle in Canada and bring it over the border permanently) emission issues? Special bill of sale involved. I am a novice here. Phil

    I know that bringing a US vehicle into Canada is a rather straight forward proceedure. Going back the other way not so sure however here are some links that should give you some info;

    http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/trade/basic_trade/importing_car.xml

    http://www.bordercenter.org/chem/vehicles.htm

    As long as you have every bit of paperwork that they may require you should not have any issues.

    If the car was listed online somewhere print a copy and take it with you.
    If you purchase a car here in Ontario you can purchase a Used Vehicle Information Package for $20 from the provincial government.

    We need it here to re-register the car however it shows on the document if there are any liens on the vehicle. This will help at the border to prove to them that the vehicle is lien free.

    This document also gives a list of previous owners as well as a record of the mileage etc. more info here;

    http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/vehicle/used.shtml

    hope that this helps :)

    I see that ad has been removed from Kijiji, any update from your end?

    I just noticed this myself. Bummer. I'll still see if I can track down the owner and find out whether the car was sold or just pulled off the market. Thanks, Phil
