Airconditioning is one of my requirements now I am looking for a car, but I often come across nice cars where actually only the airco option is not there. It really limits my choice in an already small market where finding a nice and good specimen is already hard enough!
Now I have always read about Vintage Air making nice stuff, but I never actually seen it or know someone who used it. Does anybody here have any experience with them or with installing an airco system at all?
Maybe it is not appropriate to discuss vendors here. If not, please let me know!

We discuss our car brands, so go for it!

I don't know about that company, but lots of people have used them.

Well my take is that when you take a look at modern AC systems they are simply look too new and also bit too plastic. Sure they are nicely fitted etc but it aint vintage looking or feeling.

Hence if I was about to buy a car without AC I would look long and hard for a factory original setup. You see them now and then, although they are most of the time not cheap. You should also know that A/C cars often had a different fan, radiator, fan shroud, rear axle ratio, etc not just the obvious things.

If I could not find a original setup and the car was relatively old and didn't have funky dash layout well then I would go for a vintage under the dash system. I would go for some of the same vintage as the car since it would make it look and feel right. When you do it like this you can go for modern bits for the rest of the system....

My view is that AC is one of the few options you really want your car to come with, especially if it is such a system that it's integrated to the dash. You should really think twice before adding it afterworlds.

    Cheers Dyna
