so today was my annual charity event...Kruise for Kids..:D
    (which went great btw..more later);)

so...here I am standing in the rain..at 8am...handing out pre-reg's to the drivers as they come in !

as im doing this...this gal walks up and says.."is this yours?"..yup i say...(barely turning around to look at her...'busy' )

we carry on a conversation for 5 minutes about this 'wood wagon' that a friend of hers...had abandoned about 1991 when he disappeared off the face of the planet !!...and now she is the executor off his will because he has been delcared dead...seeing hes been missing for so long !
but has to be dealt with this week !!

now the whole time...im still running around...and really havent even looked at her !

she askes me for my number and offers hers to me...

so..I stop..get my card...go to hand it to her...and she says her name !

....my heart stopped for a second
    ...I turn around...she looks at me...and says .."RICK???"....and instantly starts crying !!!!

this is a girl...that I was in luv' with from grade 9 till i was about in my 20's !!
We swore a drunken vow at about 18 years old..that if we were both still single at 50....that we would run away together !! :p
she lived up the street from me...I hung around with her and her 2 sisters for almost 15 years of my life !!!

We havent seen each other in over 28 years !!!!:D
...and here she is askin me if I want a wagon??

Now before Fannie thinks she hears wedding bells:D
(she was there with her husband !):p

but ya gotta wonder?.....What The Heck are the chances huh???(y)

The 'fates' have a strange sense of humor :jumping:

and the point of this story ? ..aside from seeing my childhood sweetheart for the 1st time in a million years ?

apparently.....I have to go look at a WAGON this week :D
Its 'apparently' mint......... ya....if i hada buck
No idea what year...make...or model !!

    I'll let ya know when I know(y)
but I felt that I had too share this story with my wagon family !

Fact is stranger than fiction for a reason, Rev. Noone would believe a story like that in a novel, but in real life? Of course! Good luck with t he wagon. Hope it is something interesting. (1960 Frontenac wagon, anyone?)

Rev, I only had a few minutes to check my emails to see if I won a million dollars or something, and check my favorite forum. Your thread is the first I clicked on. Read this out loud to my warden. She laughed and did all those woman mumbly things about how mushy this sounded.
I could just picture you and your old (Literally) high school sweetheart driving off into the sunset in a mint antique rare station wagon.
Then ya ruined it saying she is married. Any chance making him disappear too like the friend's husband?
We believe your story because we've had many similar situations meeting old friends and family in the strangest out-of-the-way places.

Gotta go to the big city to visit my 15 year old female eye surgeon. Been awhile and hoping for good news. But I'm leaving home with a smile.
Thanks and good luck on that 1927 Henway wagon.(y)

Okay Rev, I have to ask the obvious question... Was that a bullet missed or is she still the same?

I got contacted by an old love and considered myself lucky to have lost her 26 years ago. Nuff said.

Holy mackerel, Rev, what a scary thing to happen. I'll bet that almost made your hair grow back...........

Fortunately having had only one lovely lady in my life since grade 10 I don't have anything like that to think about :whew: One of my Dad's sisters ended up meeting the man she rejected when she was a teen, and with hubby #1 had 8 kids, was widowed in her 50's and he a similar situation, they met again in their early 60's and had 20+ years together. I thought that was kind of cool, but gosh, nothing like this that includes a dead dude's woody :49: wagon. Love at first sight - the wagon of course. You certainly are a wagon magnet.

You realize that you should have put a disclaimer at the start so fannie wouldn't get all twitchy and excited only to be let down as she read further down about the "hubby".

Just think, you might have ended up not having Deb in your life and that would have been a sad world............we are happy to know that your mom kept the "kid" on the straight and narrow path that night:naughty:

There are many things in life we just don't have answers for. Maybe it's Karma or fate. Safari57 and I are the same as far as our first and only true loves.
But----- But way back when I was a freshman in H S I met a girl named Peggy Sue. I was instantly smitten and still have a crush on her. I never told Peggy Sue that but even now I sometimes sing that song with the same name and fantasize about a love that's true, with Peggy Sue.
Didn't tell my wife until our 50th HS reunion when I again saw Peggy, Peggy Sue.
My wife told me I should walk up and tell Peggy about the crush I had since HS. But, I was shy then, and shy again 50 years later. Many of the other gals aged quite a bit. Some lost their girlish figures. But Peggy Sue was still lookin good 54 years later. Of course, I kept my slim and trim chisled body and fresh good looks. Plus some of my hair!
Coincidently Peggy and her husband moved to Florida less than 80 miles from where we live and I never knew it. The husband died awhile back and Peggy Sue is lonely.

Ok so first I was like, turn around, turn around look at this woman.

Then I had an excited tear in my eye.

Then I was thinking...you have a great GF! Right!!!

    I'm kidding.
    :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:

Actually what I was really thinking was that it's really cool that you got to see her again after all these years. It's to bad she is isn't keeping the wagon.
How did she happen to be there anyway? I love when fate stuff happens. :)

Just remember only one hug when you see her again...OK!
