A friend of mine painted my wagon and surprised me with this gift. I'm originally from AZ and the artist knew I bought the car in NM, so the painting depicts me driving the wagon through the desert. The picture kind of distorts it, but it's got all the elements of the desert I love - the stars at night, the sunset, the cactus, etc. I hung it by the door to my garage - it's on a red wall in my kitchen which shows off the the colors nicely.
That is sooooo cool! I may have to try my hand at painting, I do a lot of line drawings it would be cool to have a painting.
Some of us sure have nice friends ! As a retirement gift one of my good friends who does leather made me an all leather picture. It is about two feet square with our orange 1977 Corvette in the lower left, our red and white 55 Wagon lower right. Top left is a clock tooled in leather with the Chevy bowtie in a red circle. Right top is a large blue Chevy bowtie with the word CHEVROLET. It's all raised and tooled leather with the rest mostly flat with texture. He even made a custom wooden frame. It hangs above our fireplace with care in hopes someone will soon be there. This is the best photo I could find handy.
Very cool Denny! But I have to ask, what's with the red and white deer? Did you hit it with your red and white wagon?
I just looked at the deer. The one laying peacefully in the living room is actually brown. The flash must have changed his colors. He's actually made of probably plaster-of-paris. My dad used to make those and sell them. I got it when he passed away. Our living room is filled with momentos of the past....or is that junk? If I'd hit a deer that small with my station wagon he wouldn't look so good. Probably the wagon neither. That's one thing I worry about here in the boonies. Normally we have 3 to 5 in the front yard most mornings and evenings. Along with other woodland critters. Lucky, no gators. I was looking for a better close up but company came right about then.
Thanks everyone! I was very surprised when I got it. I've been mentoring the person who gave me the painting - she had a friend of hers who's a tattoo artist do the painting. I stopped by the tattoo shop with the wagon on Saturday to meet the artist and say thanks. The guys at the tattoo shop were all diggin' the wagon and thought I should get a tat of it! I told them I'll think about it....
