yea, shes pretty solid. does go some rust though. rather new tranny, interior is pretty nice aswell. she has a few quirks i need to fix along with the major issue of the coolant in the oil. but i hear the 3.1 is pretty reliable when running right. :tiphat:

no, i totally understand what your saying, thats why im having a mechanic give her a good look over before i give any money at all. because with 120,000 miles, there always gonna be some issues lurking.

Toes crossed, Legs crossed. Fingers pointing toward bad head gasket. Expect some engine work. Still a nice looking wagon with some rust in normal rear wheel area. Even with another engine would be a good deal.

For $1000 plus the cost of rust repair (remember you're in the commonwealth of "if the rust is bigger than the head of a pin, it's a load of trouble at inspection time you're in" Pennsylvania) AND blown head gaskets I think you'd be better off buying something already clean and well cared for. Let's say you're handy and can deal with the rust repairs and the engine work yourself, you'll still spend $200-$300 in machine shop fees, $400+ in gaskets, bolts, fluids, and supplies (both engine work and rust repair supplies). For that same $1700 you could have this a couple hours away:

    For $1500, here's a wood-free champagne '95 around Boston, lower miles only 98K!

A pretty maroon in and out 1994 (late 1994 maybe 1995 judging by instrument cluster) no wood in Columbus with 119K

And for a little more money priced at $1950 (but he'll take GUITARS and ANTIQUES in part trade), this is a GORGEOUS two owner, well kept, two seat 1996 model with 140K that appears spotless in and out and has lots of recent work done and good tires and everything, Saginaw Michigan which is NOT far from you honestly...

I used to keep up with pretty much every A-body posting back when we had the Jaxed Mash search available, but it's gone. SearchTempest has pretty much replaced it for me but it's time consuming to go through every city one by one. Some get posted on the A-body.net board from time to time but I generally don't post for sale stuff there unless someone is looking for something in particular.

    Cap, sorry to be......

    Again........
( kid is gona hate me, if he does'nt allwready.....:hide:)

But if $1000 is your limit (rite now) maybe keep looking, alot of good points about rust (witch I see alot of) have been brout up, and a possible "hooched" engine. Sorry man with all respect but I only see a low hundred dollar car there if it ran and needed no mechanical work.......some times you just have to walk away.......

I don't know if this wagon occupant posted is close to you or not, but just based on the body pics IMO it's worth a $1000 dollar offer....pending visual/drive it/etc inspection of course....

all very good points, but i know the story on this car, i know the current owner very personally. i knew her even before she had this car. she paid $2700 for the car 4 yrs ago, since then she has put alot of work into the car. its not deffinantly the head gasket either, the 3.1 was notorius for the intake manifold. not only do i want the car because i love, i also want it to help her out. shes trying to buy an explorer off her brother so she needs money and also she loves the car and she knows with me it'd be treated right. so with that being said, im not ready to walk away from her just yet :)

dont worry, thats one thing we discussed thoroughly, that we didnt want either of us to feel like we're being ripped off. shes been around the block a few times with selling cars and knows that 9 times outta 10 you NEVER get out of a car what you put into it. she said as it sits right now, with us thinking its the intake which is a hell of a lot easier of a fix, she would want around $1000
