That's prolly a fair deal for the work involved. :)

$75 for the labour sounds quite reasonable. That's only 45 minutes, here.

I WISH I could buy American or Canadian parts for the Thunderbird. North American made parts are almost impossible to find now. I can't even find North American brake rotors for the old girl. Chinese or nothing. UGH.

$75 was the cost of the towing. The $173 was the labor for the pump install. Yes I still find it reasonable. Here the tow would have been $125 and the labor $300.

Napa! Napa! Napa! Yes I agree the number of American made parts is dwindling fast, but we still carry many more than the other guys, plus the added bonus of talking to someone who nows which end of the car the exhaust comes out of...:rofl2:

That's pretty decent Dan, better than it would have been here too.

    It"s alive!!!

The Buick Lives :yippee:!!! (WOO HOO!!!) Nicole called and told me that the rollin sofa is rollin again. The pump was the problem (not bad for a phone diagnosis). when they pulled the tank down (Nicole was watching) they pulled out the hanger unit and the pump motor was melted on top and the strainer had fallen off. The hanger unit itself was fine but the pump was toast. When i bought it came out of the box complete with the stranier installed (complete plug in play no assembly required). Well something went really wrong in there. Can't tell if the strainer came off first and debris from the tank bottom jamed up the pump or the heat from the pump burning up caused the strainer to come off. But now there an A/C delco pump in there and a new strainer. The car ran real strong and smooth (like it should). So now its on to the other roadmaster and a crappy water pump. That will be tomorrows fun father and Son project for this weekend :banghead3: (third time around for this one). Take care Dan

    Yippy Dan !

My first impulse was to make a smart remark. But at our NAPA every one working there is very knowledgable and helpful. Mostly it is family owned and run so even the two female counter persons are "car guys."
Actually good lookin car guys which is very helpful. :rofl2:
The guys in back who do engine and repair work, the older man who bends pipes and makes hoses, all are nice people to talk to and very helpful. Small town and many mechanics and shade tree mechanics go there everyday.
Most at the Advanced Auto are also pretty good at what they do. Sadly about every place else is closed down. Not far in two directions are other NAPA stores, and 50 miles away is at least one of every auto parts store in the south.
Kind of lucky here. Also for those who can't or don't want to, there are a lot of small independant repair shops with mostly honest fair mechanics.
