Yup, thankfully I have off of work tomorrow and am spending the day at my parents'. To top it off, they have a/c and I don't
This is really a bad heat wave. It's been a long time since I can remember not being able to turn off the AC and open the windows at night! How can you LIVE in this with no AC?!?!
Believe you me, I hate it with a fiery passion. I just can't afford the bill, let alone the cost of buying one. My place came with a ton of window units. I gave them all away, but one. My first year here, I didn't use it, the next year I finally broke down and plugged it in. Fifteen minutes into use, it died. I've been without ever since.
We're looking at a high of 77 today and pushing into the mid 80's through the weekend. Its been a long dark wet season and summer "just maybe" has finally arrived.
100+ in central Illinois and all points between. Also the same here in NW Florida. But we turn off AC here at nite and open windows till morning. Sure glad Mr AC invented that cooler in my Dodge. Someone needs to mow our 2+ acres but I can't find that someone and I'm not going outside in this heat! I'm retarded and don't have to if I don't want to. Besides, it's so hot all the neighbors are staying inside too so there's no one to impress with a mowed lawn. Speaking of lawns, most of Tenn and Illinois are very dry and brown. Our home AC is under an awning mostly on the shady side of the house. That does help plus a recent metal roof seems to help the house stay cooler. AC does cycle, but not a lot lately. I'm not complaining about the heat----unless the AC quits. That's why God invented shade trees and beer! I also have a loving wife who would probably go outside and get a large Palm frond to fan me if that happens. Yea right !
Yep, us too. S E-D. Kinda tired of the rain and mowing lawns twice a week . Was able to take the Chevelle out for a toot this afternoon, it was great to be out in the sun.
I remember last year it was over 110 for weeks. The humidity in SW Missouri is horrid, and once temps reach 90 you are pretty much garrunteed no rain or even a breaze til September. It was 103 the day we loaded the uhaul. It was so sticky I pressed a flashlight to my forehead and it stuck! Today it was only supposed to be 98 and tomorrow 100. It got to 100 today. We will see what tomorrow brings. Luckily for us a friend bought us a window unit as a house cooling present. Its small but so is our apartment.
This is why we retired to Florida where it's cooler in the summer time. ?????? Skinny dippin in the Gulf, sittin under Palm trees watchin bikini clad babes cavorting in the sand and surf, baskin in the off shore breezes, listenin to Jimmy Buffet singin about 5 O'Clock someplace, sure beats back in Illinois last week.
Heading for a hundred and five here today! I MIGHT be able to handle it better if I had some of those cavorting, bikini clad babes to watch!
Oh great.....the TWC page says more of the US is in drought conditions than at any other time so far this century. We're getting dry here after a fairly decent Spring.
From so Georgia, across Alabama, and up to central Illinois it was very dry, even though we hit a few quick rains in so Illinois. Seems like north and central Florida are green but hot. I need to mow again then we are headed back to central Illinois. Hope it cools off up there or we will be stuck inside like here. After my eye problems I got babified about bright sunlight. Now I'm addicted to AC.
