[IMG] Funny, on that other car site I found there are many guys older than I am still playing with cars. And there are a large number here still messing with station wagons.
But most of us don't plan much two weeks in advance anymore!;)
Have a great Memorial Day and stop to thank a Vet.

Cute vid Cap. I got a kick out of the dog. A real partner in crime, that one. I think I'd be in trouble too if that young lady laid eyes on me - when I was that age at least. Now I'd just have a heart attack and die:lolup:

I have a love affair with every car and motorcycle and trailer I own when I'm pursuing it and acquire it. But I have wandering eyes it seems and it doesn't take long before I see something else I should add to the program. Unfortunately my dear wife has this thing about how many cars/bikes/trailers can a person really use and so I let some of my former loves go down the road. Some done, some not, some barely have shop dust on them and I'm talked out of them it seems.

A couple I wish I'd of kept, the first 70 SS Chevelle we had, red with black stripes, LS5, auto, we loved that car and it is why we have another.

The '68 427/4 gear 'vette roadster we had at the same time was a beauty but some fool talked me out of it. Who was the real fool I often wonder as I've regretted parting with that one since the day it drove away. Same goes for the Harley but in that case I just couldn't ride it any more so it had to go.

The 32 Ford Tudor I should have hung in the rafters till I was ready to do it. Same goes for the 32 Chev Tudor. What was I thinking selling either of those puppies, they could have been rafter art till the time was ripe to do them.

I loved the two Corvairs (65 and 66). They were fun little cars and I'd have another if the right one came along when the wife wasn't looking.

None of the rest of them gets me excited like they did when I was buying them. Fun cars, glad to have enjoyed them, but not missing their oil leak spots on the shop floor.

I'm struggling with selling my '51 Airstream Flying Cloud now that we've got the '60. But trailers don't do well if they are not used often up here in wet country so it will have to go and it will be a sad day for both the wife and I. We've really enjoyed it, but the Tradewind is just the right size and works so well for us now that sanity kicks in when ever I think about keeping the '51 instead. I just have to find the right buyer who is a long ways away so I don't have to see it and bang my head against it for selling it.

I'm just really glad that I have kept the Safari, a few times I have been offered far more money than I think it is worth and I've had to think hard about that, but in the end it is the one car my wife would be really disappointed to see go. Matter of fact it is now in both our names  so I can't get talked out of it without her agreement.

The Chevelle, we love the car, it is basically a brand spanking new 1970 Chevelle SS and a pleasure to drive. It is supposed to be the wife's car but so far I'm all over it all the time as I find it brings back so many great memories of the first car and the times we had with that car.

As for the wife, this S10 Blazer of hers is probably the best thing we ever did. Low miles, its a '91 and has 40,000 miles on it and is in outstanding condition. 2wd, a 2 door, the motor vehicles branch considers it a wagon and so does she. Black with torque thrust II's on it, good power and fun to tool around with. I steal it when ever I'm going somewhere and the weather is mediocre as it is easy to wash after and gets reasonable mileage, far better than either the Safari or Chevelle.

That's our automotive story. There have been a lot of cars and trucks in particular over the years, the vast majority vintage, and many wagons in the mix. What was I thinking when I sold most of them? Relief that I did well on them mostly, sad to see them go but sneaking peeks at the replacement sitting on the other side of them more often than not.
