What would be a decent price to pay for a 68 colony park if it were all original from the front bumper to the rear, including interior. 49,000 miles only. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Rob
Hi Rob, your question only invites more questions. What motor, what options, 49k miles, has it rolled over, rust...etc? With out pics inside outside, and under it's impossible to give a $ value. There is the NADA book value that alot of good members swear by, but I feel a car (any car) is only worth what you can get for it and or what you are willing to pay for it.
What Tedy said. You might want to ask tico what he paid for his and what shape it was in. From the looks of his pix it's a very nice car. http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18527
Have you guys noticed how much the price of classics has jumped all the sudden? A guy had a fair condition 69 Country Squire in the paper for $6500.00! The tailgate was toast and it wasn't running. I called out of curiosity and he had sold it for $5900.00 that morning...?
So he said. I see inflated prices all over the place and the cars are nice. What I don't see is them selling for those prices. Even crazy eBay prices are down. I have also seen JUNK with sellers wanting 6 - 10 thousand dollars. It's nuts out there, but, if you bide your time deals still are there. Not to say that there aren't uninformed buyers out there that occasionally throw too much money at a car.
Hi Broadstbullie. I paid $2,500 for my car. Just so you can have a point of comparison, my car has 72k miles, 390 engine, no A/C, and is all original except for one re-spray., which is somewhat beat. So far I have installed new tires, springs, shocks, headliner and made numerous other small repairs. The car has no major rust, just two spots on each of the rear doors and a small rust hole in the cargo well. However, I think the market for these cars here in South Florida is pretty weak. Feel free to contact me if you need anything.
Tell you what, buy it and if you get buyer's remorse I will buy it from you. Better yet, let me buy it.
That does'nt look that bad at all, still more info would be nice....hey, we're just trying to help. Have you seen the car yet? Seeing you are in Albetra I'd be looking hard and close for rust on the underside, not saying this is the case but rust can become cancer very fast on what looks like a great car. One thing I would ask the seller.... has the dash been out/apart for repair? I notice there are no button thingy grabby things on the heater controls. Disc brake is nice....I'd hate to stop that on drums where I live. Nice to see the Mercury radio also, but what is that button under the dash for?
It looks pretty good in the photos. What are the frame rails like? 1965 and newer big Fords and Mercurys have a place in the frame rails where water and salt can get in and not get out. I remember looking at a 1967 LTD sedan for sale with low miles that looked great on top. Underneath, the frame was bad. If that's not a problem, and everything else looks good, I'd say $3K is a good price.
...i was gonna say that too Retro has a good point...the frames have a tendancy to rot...at the torque box area at the front....and just before the rear axle curve...and thhe body mount just infront of the rear wheels(bout 11 oclock). otherwise....she looks pretty sweet for what you could probably get it for....i would hit them with something around 2300 to start ! ....but dont buy it thinking your gonna get rich....those are usually the ones you end up stuck with
