I have a confession. Today I pick up my latest find. After 18 months of searching for the "right" car which was either a wagon, preferably Ford, V8, dual exhaust and fuel injection or a convertable, I pick up my new used car after work today. I'm a Ford guy for the last 30 years and I admit to being a wagon fan and loved my 82 Cougar wagon before I sold it. But, the last time I had to deal with the smog nazi's here in California it cost me $700 to get it to pass the emissions test so I sold it in October of 2010 and have been wagonless ever since. I may be into my second childhood or having a late mid-life crisis but I found a car I could not pass up. Snorting V8, dual exhaust and it's a Chevrolet! OMG I've really gone over the edge. My alternative to a wagon was a convertable sports car since I've never had one. Other than wagons I've only owned two door coupes and only one of them was fairly cool. A snorting V8 dual exhaust 1970 Mercury Cougar with the houndstooth vinyl top and seats. Rare today. So, what did I find? 1990 Chevrolet Corvette coupe! FX3 suspension, dual power sport leather seats, Bose stereo, automatic, L98 with 700R4 automatic, non-stock wheels, two roof panels one painted, one glass and the car is so very well preserved it's amazing. It makes all the right exhaust music. I'll get more pictures soon but here's the ad.
Cool, TB! Mid life or whatever!.....you sound happy and that's what counts. I hope you really, really enjoy it.
Why would any adult in his right mind buy a Corvette? Oh, same reason I had to have one. Good luck and have fun. Don't try haulin a piece of 4X8 plywood or a a bunch of yard sale things in it though!
There were a few around the big car shows in Daytona and I remember one in Orlando one time. I believe one was average shape and for sale. Still don't think you could haul much in it though. Of course a Vette is for haulin a@*^ mostly, not plywood!
The only problem is that with my ample bum the sport seats are a little narrow. I've got another 40lbs to lose. I'm 1/2 way there.
Personally don't care for any newer than the chrome bumper Vettes. Did have a 1977 because it was the last of that Stingray style. Then we adopted our grandson and he grew after I added a third center seat and belt. Who'd a thunk a kid would grow? :banghead3: When I find a mint 63 split window under $1000 I'll buy it. Okay maybe $10,000 !
Last year for the chrome bumper was 72,the change started in 73 with a plastic nose and chrome rear bumper.
If it spits out $1000 bills I'll take one. Otherwise I'm allergic to exercise! It makes me tired and I sweat!
