What a sad, sad day. Our little dough boy is gone! But I had heard through the grapevine that he had been in a jam. I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles. He will be missed. :(

What I found interesting having read the book about Steve Jobs of Apple fame (the late I might add) is that he almost always parked in handicapped parking spots. He felt he was above having to follow the rules.

Before and after I got my hips replaced by titanium joints I got a handicap card. Used it early on when I went into stores. But mostly sat while wife shopped so parked 1/2 mile away to protect truck. Let her out at door but she had to push full shopping cart back out. She's young and I figured this would keep her spry.
I no longer use the blue pass. I figure real handicapped people need it. But what upsets me is seeing these young people parking in handicapped spots and running in and out of stores.
No matter how many signs are posted, even the cops drive right past illegally parked vehicles.

I agree. I was in a wheelchair 4 months after my accident, walked with crutches another 3 or 4 months and graduated to a cane for a year or so.I am considered permanently disabled and will eventually have to go out on disability but when all this was going on I had been issued a handicap parking permit and used it until I could walk with the crutches, then figured the longer walk would help me and they had people who were older and in worst shape than me that needed that space. It was good for 2 years and then just had to go to DMV and get new one. Needless to say used it first 4 months after that it was in glovebox of my truck.

Yeah, I was also given the handicap card after my back surgary, never used it at the grocery store etc, felt I HAD to walk it out so to say. I will admit though I, at the time took advantage of the handicap parking at the beer store:rednose:, but that was it.

What burned me then and still burns me today is the handycap parkers who..... get out with a cane and blast of into the store looking like they don't even need a cane...the person shoping who has a clearly handicap person in the car and leave them in he car as they go buy a jug of milk, ...and the POS who is driving a car with the decal who is clearly in health and fit, clearly driving some one elses car all alone that takes the parking spot because there is the decal on the car.

Im disabled and I refuse to get plates or a placard. I saw what my dad went through and I wont be so unfeeling to those worse off than me. My reasoning is that since I can still walk, albeit with a cane, I should NEVER deprive those who need it the convenience that has been provided to them and that is rightfully theirs.

Hear, Hear!! I worked with a guy who's wife was disabled and had great difficulty walking around. I learned one day that he was in the habit of taking handicapped parking whenever he was driving by himself. I lost all respect for the guy, and told him what a scumbag he was.

The security staff at his office reported that it was a "game" he liked to play. Apparently there was an obscure rule where he lived that permitted cars to be owned and driven for a certain amount of time before license plates were required. Jobs always replaced the car just before he was required to plate it and, as a result, never had license plates on his car. He was daring the police to try and give him a ticket. Apparently his new cars got keyed often.
