Fairmont Finished and at work I won't have the camera for two weeks, while my wife is in Mexico, so I'll get a couple of prettier shots today. I was in such a rush this morning that I forgot the camera to shoot with the trailer connected up, but here she is! Side view: Rear from the backyard: Front from the alley: The 2-door donor Fairmont Sedan filled this little trailer up about 10" higher than the sides. 1,470 lbs of tin. Trailer from the side: Trailer from the end:
Thanks RK. She was a real star with the trailer. Couldn't even feel it was there. My car had both front coils broken at the second ring down. It would lean into any turn. This baby just stays flat. No leaning. A real sweety. I gotta a bunch of BS stuff to do (cut the lawn, list my wife's luggage contents in English, etc.) and a bit more fine tuning, so I'll get at it. Later...
Nope, I know her inside and out. What a simple car with that six. Crank her up and go. Piece of cake. And real comfy.
I bet she is excited that it is finished. Now you can take her out to a nice Restaurant when you want.
When she gets back, we want to go the small town Farmers' Markets and see stuff via the country roads - maybe another Fairmont Wagon - hehehe.
I can see a collection growing now. Maybe you should get that Red,White and Blue one at Country Classic cars lol
The Provincial (State) logo here says "Friendly Manitoba" on our plates, but you really find that out in the country. You just have to show some real interest in an old car or truck and quite often the farmer will give it to you, free. There's some gorgeous old cars out there, sitting since the 1930's and 1970's. And, you know me enough that if I see a good project car, I'll get her done right. That's how I got the 1955 Studebaker President coupe. Restored it, let the farmer take it on his second honeymoon for a week, and got a new 1978 Lincoln 2-door and $5,000, a week after they got back. This sweet wagon ain't going out of my sight.
With that I think the "Car Running Countdown" is about finished. When you wife gets back you'll have to go look at Falcons at the Rev's place.
I don't blame you Norman, she is a beauty. I wish I could find a free project car like that. What is the Canadian version of the US Made Chevelle?
I like the West coast during the summer/fall, especially Vancouver Island, Cache Creek (about 300 miles north of Vancouver), and Osoyoos. The Rockies are spectacular. Vancouver Island has the Cathedral Forest - you lay down on the pine needles and you still can't see the sky because the trees are so tall. Actually, there's one that is so big that you drive through the trunk on one lane. And Osoyoos is one of those hairpin mountain roads, where you drive at about 7,000 feet above the town, to pass into town and drive all the way back up to keep going east or west. In the winter, its like a bobsled run. Snowbanks as high as the semis on either side. Th Prairies are oceans of Sunflowers, wheat, oats, barley, flax, yellow canola crops and sunsets to remember. But really pretty is the drive through Quebec to the Atlantic coast. Better than any tourist pictures you'll ever see! Here, in my Province, the really pretty parts are up on the West side. We've got two molehills they call mountains, neither is over 1,000 feet ASL (Above Sea Level), but the towns are out of a cowboy movie. They still park nose-first, no parking meters, western-style pubs, bed and breakfast, and the greatest homemade pies at the truckers' stops. Nummers!!!
