Although my house is 700 sq. ft. per floor (2,100 of living space), I can't keep it all. I made a list of giveaway parts in the 'For Sale' thread here, but I just wondered if anyone had an experienced list I could compare with?

    One: The fueltank Sender.
Two: The tank (if its ok)
Three: The instrument panel or at least the printed circuit board
    Four: Emergency brake cables
Five: Windshield and tailgate glass (at least)
    Six: Mirrors
    Seven: Good wheels and jacks
Eight: Front Fenders (stats say the odds are good for frontend damage) and headlight/grille parts.
Nine: Brake drums and discs (exchange value at least)
    Ten: Steering parts
Eleven: Tail light frames and lenses (kids like to break them)
Twelve: The hood ornament (Mold a silicone rubber one for daily use and keep the good one for shows.) ;)
Thirteen: Exterior trim that's in good shape.
Fourteen: Front seat foam cushions (the seat part always dies first)
Fifteen: Sun visors, radios and gauges. (Concours quality)

Carbs, engines, etc. should be replaceable for 10 years at least on a 30 year old car. But if its good and you've got room, why not.

Once I get her on the road, I don't want some weenie adjuster telling me he can't get parts.

Rev, you gotta decide, pal. Are you an archaeologist or a hobbyist? :D

Then you won't be so conflicted. (y) :1st:

Personally, I like your archaeology mode. Gives me something to pick on. But I'll bet you've done some mean restos in your garage (somewhere under all that stuff!) :biglaugh::biglaugh::rofl2::rofl2:

Hmm keep things such as lenses, moldings, and emblems they break easy (other people breaking them for you) and it's hard to find.. The same goes for outside mirrors.. Things inside will likely not break (could keep some contact and guages) but since you baby the car it's unlikely things will break unless you have kids...

The rest you can can toss but, think is it likely that the item can break then keep it.. Common engine stuff that isn't #'s matching is no point.. like a intake -- it's not like your intake will break :).. exhaust can crack although..

    Cheers Dyna

Thanks Dyna. Up here in Canada, we're pretty far away from the non-rusty junkyards in Arizona or California, but lots of body parts for mine are still available in Fiberglass. So yeah, I agree, the plastic parts are the ones to hang on to. Some switches and special fasteners. Mostly small stuff.
