    Not mine.

Not yet at least. I'm going for it. Gonna tick off the wife but if I can get the guy to call me back and take a deposit, I'll WALK to Oklahoma City if I have to.

Says it's a 351W, 3 seats, has some small issues like a tailgate window that's not connected and a fuel gauge that doesn't read. But for the money, and for not being more than 2 hours away (by car, ha ha ha, try 2 days away on foot), it's a very good deal and I so want it. Colors aren't perfect but maroon on tan will work.

Another Station Wagon, i found here and bought. It goes to Germany, also. The first one was a blue 72er, about 8 month ago, from Texas !

Uh-oh. Maybe by posting the CL link on here, the German fellow discovered it and got to it first. I always try to keep deals that I don't want spoiled quiet!

Well, the seller lied to you about being the first "prospect". You were third. Somebody trading him a Mustang was first, and then flaked out because he didn't have a title to it (was set up for racing, not street legal). I was second but have to sell my van first. Van is not sold yet. So Alex here had cash in hand and got it. I was hoping if he sold it to someone else that it would stay local, but that's the breaks of the game.

I would have had cash available next Friday (27th) but you had cash first. That's how it works.

And to change the 74 to a 72 front end requires changing out the entire front clip, hood and all, and you have to cut off and replace the front frame rails because the 72 bumper does not mount like the 73-76 ones. As far as the rear bumper, I believe the 72-73 style bumper will bolt on in place of the 74-76 style. Should also have to change out the filler panels of course. But the major work you have will be up front.

Breaks my heart to know it won't stay original, though. You could have bought a '72 instead. They are out there. There's a primer gray one in Arvada, Colorado (Denver CL) for even cheaper than this and it's a 351 Cleveland. I don't want it because it doesn't have the third row seat, so I haven't inquired further about it.

What I'm hoping is that '76 wagon that was on eBay a few months back in California shows back up. The white one that sold for $850 or so. It had a blue interior and was a perfect match to my sedan. Had a banged up tailgate and rust under the windows but it was right. Was another in New York 2 years ago, white on blue. I'd definitely prefer a blue interior but I would have rocked the tan without wanting to change it.

    SO NOT COOL!

He posted up on here 7 days ago that he contacted the seller and you took hit out from under him? You just said above "Another Station Wagon, i found here and bought. It goes to Germany, also" MEANING, you found it on here, ONLY because he posted it up and shared that he wanted to buy it even if he had to walk to get it and upset his wife.

    I repeat

    SO NOT COOL!

    What a DICK move!

Occupant, word to the wise, dont post up anything else you have intent on buying until you own the thing, or you could very well get another cockblocking. I dont care if he had cash in hand, he should have not contacted the seller when he could read in plain text in the same topic where he found the link, that it was already wanted by another forum member.

Even if you are cool with it, I find it totally disrespectful and a steaming sack of bullsh*t that he would use your link to steal it from under you. Maybe he will find out its a busted up pile of crap he cant find parts for over there and be stuck with having to pay dearly to get it where he wants it............. SO NOT COOL!

I'm not cool with it also, dirty pool IMO. It's not the first time this has happened on the forums also. IMO even if the other guy had the cash first, maybe some sort of contact out of respect for Occ would have been in order after all he found it, posted it, wanted it, and the link he posted was used to buy the car. I would look at this very different if I had learned that while Occ was waiting to sell his van a complete stranger found the ad in there own search weather local or else where and bout it.

I agree Tedy, but he clearly stated and I quoted, "Another Station Wagon, i found here and bought. It goes to Germany, also" Maybe Stef should look into making the Classifieds private to only members with no less then 100 posts to keep this crap from ever happening again. 100 posts is enough for us to get to know and have respect for eachother and once we have that bond, it will take a real lowlife scumbag to cut another members throat like this guy did.

I still say :ban: :ban: :ban:

Im from Germany he is from Texas, so jump in your car and pick her up.
Why should the seller lie to me ? just my opinion.

Whoa. Hold on. Ordinarily, when a member posts here that he is going for a car and someone else wants it....the second guy usually converses with the member that has posted it and is excited about it. If the first guy still wants it and has made arrangements with the seller it is usually understood that the second guy backs off but will be second in line if the first deal falls through. That is what usually happens here in the wagon family. However, not everyone follows this unwritten rule or is even aware of it. AND, we have TONS of guests perusing this forum all the time for the sole purpose of finding a wagon that they are searching for. Bottom line is like always, you snooze you loose. But, occupant had all the info down and, in this case, had moved up from second to first place for the buy and had, obviously, been in contact with the seller. The seller, however, apparently lied to Alex and told him HE was first. The seller didn't care about places in line....he only cared about who got there first with the money. Had I been the seller I would have told Alex that I had a tentative buyer and if it fell through I would get back to him.
It is unfortunate, but, it would appear that posting the wagon that you found and want is not a good idea until you own it or, at least, have money down on it. I find that to be a sad thing. It's fun to watch a guy find a wagon and share his excitement, follow the sale through to fruition and see it arrive at his house with all the descriptions and explanations. That has happened here many, many times. The people here usually back off a car when a member is already on it. Of course, that doesn't stop a guest from snapping it up. Or anyone else for that matter.
In this case, we don't know what transpired in this deal. Did Alex contact the seller before occupant posted? We don't know what either of the buyers said to the seller or what the seller told them. We don't know what the timing was. Did occupant tell the seller he had to sell his other car first? We don't know anything about the deal.
I like seeing guys post a car up that they are going after, but, I guess it's a good idea to have sealed the deal first. Sad but true. I can't remember any one of our family members jumping a car that someone else posted without first finding out from the original poster if it was OK to go for it. But, unfortunately, there is always a risk, I guess.
