Pretty sure they were available. Seen them on Bel Air hardtops and one '56 4-door wagon. So I figure they must have been 'available' on the '55 - but probably only actually installed on maybe 1 out of 1,000 wagons - or less.
Check out the under hood pictures of this Bel Air with factory AC. Notice the power steering pump attached to the back of the the generator. Anyone have any exp with the 55 265 engine with these options? How well did they work? http://mecum.com/auctions/lot_detail.cfm?LOT_ID=OH1110-99477 Sorry to hijack the thread, but.........Krash started it,lol.
Okay, does this wagon have PATINA or RUST? And just when does patina become rust? Electric windows possibly. Electric seat very rare. But with AC and power steering it seems to be a fully loaded wagon and back then anything could be ordered. That original air cleaner and full bench seat are rare items today still intact. Says Bel Aire on dash but it seems to be a 210. The Nomad was really the Bel Aire in 55.
Apparently a magazine ad for the '55 Chev wagons. the 4-door Bel Air wagon was given the moniker 'Beauville'.... http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/chevy/55chev/bilder/8.jpg
Power windows and power seat were a regular production option in '55. From the '55 assembly manual "RPO 397 – Seat & Window Electrical Control". In '55 the 2 door Bel Air wagon was the Nomad, the 4 door Bel Air wagon was the Beauville. The 210 4 door wagon was the Townsman. The 210 2 door wagon was the Handyman. In '56 the 2 door Bel Air wagon was the Nomad, the 4 door 6 passenger wagon was the townsman and the 4 door 9 passenger was the Beauville. The 210 4 door wagon was also the townsman and the 9 passenger was a Beauville. The 210 2 door wagon was the Handyman. In '57 The Bel Air 2 door wagon was the Nomad. The Bel Air 4 door only came in 6 passenger as a Townsman. The 210 4 door wagon 6 passenger was a Townsman and the 9 passenger was a Beauville. The 210 2 door wagon was the Handyman. In '55, '56 and '57 the 150 wagons only came in 2 door versions and were Handyman. Confusing isn't it?
In 1955 Chevrolet had all the options that were available to all the rest of the GM line up. The list is about as long as your arm. Rare... yes.. unheard of.. No!
