Alright kids, I just acquired this fairly unusual 2dr Comet wagon. I'm fairly certain that it's a '64 but I'm still too in shock to confirm that. The body is fairly straight and almost rust free but the roof is severely damaged due to several heavy Winters. No big deal for a big operation like ours, we have no fear in repairing large flat and or heavily contoured body panels.

My initial reaction is to straight axle it with a 289 and a top loader but like I said...I'm still in shock.

Sweet wagon. Who doesn't love those Comet lines? I was looking at a '63 Comet Wagon but the guy never called back.

    Good find!

It's no newer than a '63 though. Body style changed in '64.

You found that in BC? Man, I thought BC had been picked over. Good for you. Cash in your RRSP and replace it with that!

Those '62 2-door Comet Customs are rare as hen's teeth Polara Pat, and trimmed out really well.
We had a 4-door Comet wagon back around '63, a teal beauty (a favorite color),
and one day I'll have to figure out how to get a slide image of it printed/scanned.
I found this one, a '61, in the back of a CA repair shop, and had to get a quick pic of it.
They wanted way too much money for it, so it might still be there.

    What a score!

Based on the grille and fender trim, that one is a 61.

Congrats, that is awesome!:bouncy:. What you have there IMO is a 1962 model. I say that because you have the "gun sites" on the front fenders, fender emblem also. Ford stoped useing those on the mid size Comets/Meteors in 62. Krash's pic is correct for 63 and the lack of gun sites

    63

TG's pic is a 62, gun sites and the front fender trim without the comet name up front.

Awesome PP (y) You'll keep us updated, right?

What do you mean "no big deal for a big operation like ours?"

What's going on in that secluded field?:)

    Fat Tedy,
I think we both stand corrected, in that my pic is a '61, according to the brochure.

Either way, a very pretty baby! There was a '61 Falcon DeLuxe 2-door in town about 3 years ago that I regret not rescuing.
Wish I'd known about this site then...

And this '61 Falcon 2-door taken (not by me) at an unknown CA show

There's something too cool about 2-door wagons, any size!

Yeah, you are correct, I missed the comet emblem on the front fender in the origonal post. I really dig the gun sites, had them on my 62 Meteor.

Yah, pretty rare indeed. I don't know if it was a Canadian made car or an import from the South. Did Ford change stuff up for their Canadian cars like the Mopars did? I look forward to learning more about these beautys and yes, I will post more pics once we get her home but that won't be for a couple of weeks. I do promise to keep it all blue oval but I may need to do some minor body mods. I've already been offered a straight trade for a super clean 2dr Polara from a friend in California. I think I'll pass and get my Ford on.

    I believe it is a '63.
My initial reaction is; what a cool old wagon(and I hate you)
I like YOUR initial reaction MUCH better, do it! Altered wheel base too?
