New member living in Alabama at the moment. My username indicates what I drive. This would be my third wagon (all Volvos) and at this point I really can't see myself ever owning anything else. Coupes just attract unwanted (read: police) attention, sedans are useless (unless all you carry is people), SUVs are bloated...but station wagons? They're perfect. I've always had an affinity for them, 'guess it stems from the fact that the first car I can remember riding around in was an '87 Volvo 245. I would've been...3? years old. It's one of the earliest somewhat coherent memories I have.
My other two, a 945 and a 245 respectively: Despite not looking terrible, the 245 was a pile that was made entirely of rust. I only drove it 7 months, and once I looked at it underneath I was amazed and a little nauseated by the fact that I'd driven it for that long. Yes, it was that bad. The rear suspension looked as if it were about to rust apart.
Thanks for the comments and the welcome guys. Quick question - what's the deal with sigs? Do you just have to have a certain number of posts, or is it a contributor-only deal?
Sigs is American for signiatures at the bottom of your post. Sweet rides. They look great. Did you fix the old rust bucket? Any pics of that?
The old rust bucket was too far gone. For the $800 I paid for it, I couldn't justify fixing it. It was just a late model 240, there are a bajillion of them. It was also one of the only cars I owned of which I didn't really take any pics to speak of. That one pic there also happens to make that car look a lot nicer than it really did, in person. I'm going to have another five-speed 245, though. There's really something to be said for their simplicity.
765. Enjoy the wagon members. Ive never owned or even ridden in a Volvo but heard a lot of good things about them. Yours looks nice.
They are a different breed, never met anyone who didn't either love them or hate them. There's no in-between. Having had 6 of them (3 sedans, also, one of which I still have) in total, I guess you can figure out which side I'm on.
Nice to see that swedish steel is appreciated over there" The "old faithful" 700 series is a nice car to ride, and i hope you enjoy it!
I always liked those Volvos....UNTIL I realized that they were FWD. I know that they have an AWD in these, too, but that is not a model I would want either. I saw a cool Volvo converted to RWD with an LT1 in it. Burned the tires off. I wish that they were all RWD.
