Hi, I'm new here - no wagon yet unless my 2WD Excursion counts I'm interested in buying a wagon in the next few months. Something from the late 50's to the mid 60's to do a resto-rod style build on. Undecided what I want/like at this point. Hoping to meet some new friends here and figure out what I want to buy. Thanks
Welcome, RB. Best thing for you to do is read some of the posts, do searches on the forum for particular wagons you're interested in, and check out what's posted. If you don't mind, I'll suggest a few favorites.... '60 Big Ford - unique styling, readily available mechanical parts, easily updated to modern specs. '64-'65 Falcon / Comet. Smaller size, easy to work on. Lots of Mustang stuff fits, fairly inexpensive. '65-'70 big GM wagons. Still quite a few out there, in all ranges of condition / prices. Good looks. '60 - '66 compact Chrysler Corp wagons - Valiant / Lancer / Dart - economical, and certainly unique. You'll be the only one on your block with one. '66-'69 BIG Chrysler wagons. Huge, the ultimate large barge. Good luck with your search. Marshall
Welcome RB. They definitly have plenty of pics in gallery to help you figure out what body style you like!
Welcome aboard!! The fact that you first decided to get a wagon, and now are focusing on which one likely means that you've come to the right place. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima
Thanks for the warm welcome and the wagon ideas! Any suggestion on where to look online for year by year run down of various wagon models available with pics, etc? I have ran across a couple things I like; a 59' Catalina, 64-67' Olds Vista Cruiser or Buick Sportswagon. I like the mid 60's Impala/Bel-Air Wagons too. I need to decide if I want the hot rod look from the 60's or something a little more retro. Krash Kadilac - what Ford model(s) are you referring to as the 1960 Ford's? I would be interested in checking into those. So far the only Ford's I have considered are the Galaxie's.
Great looking wagon but I'm looking for a project car, and something with a little less initial investment.
There's a link at the bottom of the page to "old station wagons for sale". http://www.oldstationwagonsforsale.com/ Most of the cars are finished but it's fun to browse around and see what ultimately strikes your fancy.
Cool car! I like it! I like the Mercury Commuter from the same year too, I have a soft spot for the hardtop wagons
Welcome Roast Beef sounds like your stewing over your choice of wagons These guys will help you along the way because they love to help others find the next love of their life and spent opm Good luck with your search!
Unfortunately I do not have one I'm liking most of the 60-64' cars, with the Merc, Ford Galaxie and Dodge 880 being on top. I'm in no hurry, starting to look now and see what is out there.
