Gee, I hope nobody starts a power vs non-power steering thread.:rofl2:

    Now that could get emotional....

How about radial vs bias-ply tires...

I did have a 76 Chevy long bed pickup with manual disk brakes.

    for me....
stick shift. all the way. i actually want to do the t56 6speed conversion to TiKi. the standard in a b body makes it feel 1000lbs lighter and the conversion uses out-of-the-box camaro parts.

    my past cars
1996 buick roadmaster custom- auto (for now)
    1994 f150 4x2 -5 speed (current)
    1998 chevy s10 ls- 5 speed
    1976 olds omega - auto
1984 dodge ram 150 royale - auto (may i add probably the toughest auto ive ever seen)
    1988 jeep comanche olympic 4x2- 4 speed
    1995 f150 xlt 4x4 - auto
    2002 ford focus zx3 - 5 speed
1993 jeep wrangler se YJ - 5 speed
1993 jeep cherokee country - auto
1981 dodge van shortie - auto
1982 ford crown vic - auto
5-7 auto wins. hmm i do still prefer stick shift and out of the new cars, you need to get the most stripped model to get a stick. that makes me very mad!

Alot of good points, pointed out here:D

3 on the tree....:thumbs2:, I love them, it's a anti theft device today as nobody knows how how to work one!:rofl2:...:yup:

In my younger years standards were fun, I had a 68 Cougar with 3spd manual on the floor. My honey had her couple Celicas with 5spd manual and they were a blast.....but we got older. On the highway nothing tops a manual IMO but city driving became a drag. My 65 GMC is a 3 on the tree and man it really was a leg work out in city traffic.....then you even get older and some what smashed up...a manual is just to hard to use, so it's automatic now....

I think the industry is deciding for us. Ford hasn't offered a manual transmission in the worlds best selling vehicle since back in 2004 they switched to only automatics.

I've almost always had autos, with the exception of my 58 Chevy Delray, that had a 3 on the tree. I hated it, especially on hills.

If you are a city driver you will be better suited with an auto. If you like to do a big burnout and get scratch in second without spending a fortune on a huge engine, stick is for you. If you are tired of flooring the gas around the corner and not feeling any acceleration until you leave the corner, a stick is for you. If you wat to sleep at the wheel, the auto is the way to go. Not everyone is cut out to work three pedals at once. I think it is a lost art. Granted you can spend money beefing your engine up and modifying your transmission, you will pay a price.

You look cooler cruising in an auto too. Nothing more embarrassing than flirting with some girls in traffic and missing a gear!
