Some socialist things really work right! I think we've got 3 or 4 Publically (Government) run Auto Insurance companies in Canada. British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick and one more (I think). Out of 10 provinces and 4 territories, Manitoba's is the only one that in 4 years in a row, has either reduced premiums or sent rebate cheques. The rebate cheques, used be like 10% of the previous year's premium.

Well they outdid themselves! 15% discount on premiums, province-wide, and 45% cash rebate in the mail (on last year's premiums).

Read the Premium Rebate Facts (May 3 item)

It seems that the local constabulary, the Insurance company, and the Safe Driver programs helped a whole lot in cutting losses and payouts, so after they tried finding ways to piddle it away, they were ordered to cough up! Could have gone to pork barrel projects, instead of our pockets.:biglaugh:

The City and Provincial Police got really tough when they saw car-jackers aiming their cars at them, then they started shooting. Now we have a chopper in the air, and that means quick tracking.

Incredible though at how many cars with power side mirrors get vandalized. Those things must be expensive.

My rate still went up Norm, just put the wagon back on the road.
They aren't lowering the rates any from what I can see. Which means they're still overcharging. :16suspect1:

I guess it all depends on where in Canada you live. I'm not thrilled at all with ICBC witch is goverment run (Insurance Corp of British Columbia) Both my wife and I are at 40% discount for years and thats where it stops. $$$ back!...as if!

I wanted to get colector plates for my truck and Crewzer wagon last year because of the very low rates...what a joke. To go through all the BS they want in order for me to get the lower insurance, in a way it would cost more than what I'm paying now. Info needed, pics, must be locked in a garage when not driven, and driving restrictions on top of that....just BS!!

I have 4 viehicles insured rite now in my name, with the only other operator insured witch is my wife....you would like to think that "they' would realize....4 vehicles, only 2 drivers......some thing is staying at home most of the time.

Yeah Tedy. ICKY BICKY was always tinkering with rates. Any excuse to raise them. Probably run by a commodity broker.

MPI has done a heck of a job with the Police and the RCMP to keep people safe. A lot of cooperation.

The fact that after at least 4 years of discounts of about 10%, at least, on all drivers (not including good driver discounts) that they end up with $320 million to pass around, this year, makes me wonder if the Province was oinking in there to use it for something other than road repair or transport related, ego projects.

This NDP government in MB is notorious for robbing MBHydro's piggy bank for its pet projects, or to claim that they kept the debt down to legal caps.

MPI must have figured they'd get hit, and went right to the Public Utilities Board making it impossible for the Politicians to snort out their extra money. :rofl2:

Ain't your momma's Left Wing NDP, in MB. :biglaugh:
