I just watched Romance and Cigarettes- with James Gandolphi and Christopher Walken. It's a musical! :rofl2:

James' character drives around most of the movie in a worn Buick or Pontiac box-body wagon.

    And a oldie, but goodie:

In addition to about a dozen or more Pinto's in the background, "Mr. Garvey" a spporting cast member, drives a brand spankin' new Mercury Woodie, 80's era, with spiffy chome basket spoke wire wheels. It couldn't be cooler!

Just think: 30 years from now someone might be saying "I can't belive they destroyed a 2008 (something.) If any gas is left... and if anyone can afford to drive...

its amazing that in the 70's the future looked like Mad Max movies, then in the 80s it began to brighten up and look like Robocop and Back to the Future. then in the 90s with computers a real reality, the future was in the matrix, now with the economy down, its beginning to look like Mad Max again

Oooo remember the 1979 movie "Americathon"?

The world is completely out of oil, people are living in their cars and America is deep in debt thanks to dimwit President Chet Roosevelt (John Ritter) who was elected by a TV worshiping public merely because of the family name. Sound familiar? Scary! Anyway, Chet and media specialist Riegert decide to hold a 30 day telethon to save America. To host it they choose washed up actor Monty Rushmore (Harvey Korman), who is now the pill popping star of a cross dressing sitcom called "Both Mother and Father." But sneaky Presidential aide Vincent Vanderhoff (Fred Willard) wants this to fail so the Hebarabs (the Jews and Arabs have joined forces) can take over America.

"Americathon" ? Never saw or heard of it, but thanks for that. I used to enjoy politics, but it's become a blood-sport here too in Canada. "He who has the sharpest insulting slogan, wins." And the nation loses.

They haven't shown this in years. Decades, as a matter of fact. The screen writer seemed to know pretty much about the topic. Back then, nobody thought anything about it. Today, with all the Qanon news, it shouldn't surprise anyone that this originated in Hollywood and maybe not just a psycho thriller afterall?:

    Now, this is a Vincent:
