I gotta have something to haul my big giant head around in, what better than a big giant wagon!

"Wanna-be wagon...pffft! This thing defines what a wagon is!

Only drawback so far is the slooooooow acceleration, compared to my previous Cummins and Powerstroke trucks. Even though this one is turbocharged, it puts out a mere 137 horsepower. Compared to anywhere from 165 hp to over 475 hp from my other Diesel-powered pickups, it ain't gonna win any drag races! But, at the end of the on-ramp, it's up to speed to safely merge into traffic, and that's what matters. Keeping right along at 70 is no problem.

I have a friend who is an auto mechanic instructor at the local vo-tech. I'm bringing the beast down there in the morning for an alignment. The only real issue I have with the Travelall right now is the way it goes around curves. Either the camber or the toe (or both) is out of specs.

So far, I like this. I do not know of another Travelall in the local area that is tagged, titled, and driven.

Nice find. It's a wagon in my book. That's its purpose. I've learned to appreciate slow acceleration over the years. My wagon had 88 hp. My Ranger has 100 and my hot rod Tbird has 140. Enjoy the scenery whilst accelerating.

You might be able to get a bit more out of it. Maybe you could try asking over at www.4btswaps.com. There is a Perkins section there.

Nevermind, I see you already posted there. (y)

Got the 'Binder aligned today. The camber was off a little. Underneath, the suspension and steering is in like-new condition. Very happy with that news! Drove it home and the wandering was gone. Drives and tracks straight and true.

Does anyone have a preference of rubbing compounds that can be used with a buffer? I'm going to take some time and revive the paint on this, and get it shining as good as possible. Also, a good wax is needed. I've used Meguiar's products before and was reasonably happy. Haven't had to work an oxidized paint job like this in years! Any ideas?

Have you looked into the newish stuff called Zaino, Pat? I have not used it yet but am looking for a good detailer in Wisconsin that uses these products. It's a little different concept and after you get it all done you can just use a tiny bit of the final stuff that makes it look like it was just shot with clear coat. Takes about 20 minutes to do your car and you can keep going over prior applications whenever you feel like it. Unlike wax, you can keep building it up and it will protect and shine more each time whereas wax just melts the prior coat into the next coat.

Took the International out for an Easter morning breakfast run with the lovely wife, who was enjoying her first ride in the beast. She is not real hot on the unique shift pattern, and she says I don't have to worry about her borrowing the IH anytime soon! She likes it, but she doesn't feel the love enough to drive it. That's OK with me!

Anyway, we have been getting rain for nearly a full day now, to help alleive the drought we've been enduring, and come to find out the windshield seal is just a bit on the leaky side. Not a big issue in dry South Texas, but a little more of a problem up here in the April - June rain/hail/tornado season!

Yesterday, I found a hood and nearly perfect armrests on CL from a truck a guy was scrapping out, and went and pulled them. My current hood has about ten noticeable hail dings, where the new hood has none. Whenever I get around to painting this, it'll get the new hood. The armrests are nearly perfect, just dirty. Swapped the one bad one out already, now I've got four that look showroom-fresh.

    How are the seats?
I would think some very nice ones from a late model Suburban would fit the bill......
