:yippee:And so we finally begin Fannie's restoration. Although I suppose it actually started when we got her home. The search for a good body guy to reassure us that we hadn't gotten in to deep and who was not only capable but excited and willing to take on the project. Next the search for parts began. With the biggest challenge being the 1/4 panels. I was only able to find one donor wagon and it was in Arizona, to far away and the driver's 1/4 panel was heavily damaged. So El camino panels will be used, they will have to be cut to fit. Now that we are starting the disassembly a parts list will begin, adding parts that we hadn't realized that we needed.

The first item on hubby's list was to get her started. Since we hadn't really been able to get her running since we got her home, she turned over a few times but wouldn't idle. So he changed the wiring harness(from the donor car), put in the brand new battery, some fresh gas down the carb and away she went...EEEEE...that was easy! However we discovered that the fuelpump isn't working...add to the list(attl).

While he's under the hood so to speak, I'm inside removing alot of screws in the trim. Just about everything inside is now out and has been placed into her room in the house. I'll be cleaning and appling upholstery dye
to freshen up the faded and over spray areas. She had been painted (not very carefully) before hence the fire engine red. The upholstery will stay the original color.

And that is where we are right now...more will follow :yup:

    Next baby step...

Front clip is off, fluids are draining and the motor is all disconnected. OOOO nasty little surprise...body mount on the drivers side is total gone! This is going to be a S L O W process. I did manage to get the rest of the rusted screws out of the cargo area EEE...man that was tough!!! Stay tuned another baby step will follow...

We're keeping the 6, it roared like a lion when we had her running with no exhaust(love that sound) but she'll be purring like a kitten...well, until I get that Cherry Bomb on her:evilsmile:

Oh yeah she'll be hot (y)but not pink!

Keep posting photos. It will be great to watch as your wagon progresses and comes back together. Will it stay red or are you going with another color?

    I had to work...

but hubby has been VERY busy...

So inside the fender, the spare tire storage area, as you can see, is Fannie's worst part! I'll be ordering 1/4 panels for an El Camino...my question is, do El Camino's store their spare tire in the same place?

I'm pretty sure that the El Camino spare tire stowage is behind the seat inside the passenger's compartment.
