Mine has the old black letter one too. The donor had them too, so I've got extras. I cleaned them all up and 're-chromed' them (Krylon chrome paint with a small brush).
It does look sharp with those wheels. Like it could take a real bite off a rice-rocket... Nicest I've seen on a sedan. Hey Peg Leg, have you been to the Foureyedpride - Other site? It's all about our cars (although mine only has 2 eyes - Halogens ). Good techs. http://vb.foureyedpride.com/forumdisplay.php?f=63

AutoZone has both: http://www.autozone.com/addVehicleI...nitialN,15799999/shopping/vehicleSelected.htm And here's the Manuals (No Fairmonts or Zephyrs), but you can use the Fox Mustangs, Capri diagrams. http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=/az/repair_info/repair_guide/repair_guide.jsp 1979 to 1988 Mustang/Capri manuals http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiB..._us/0900823d/80/19/8e/a0/0900823d80198ea0.jsp
thanks bro, lol it wasn't the carburetor the distributer hold down nut came lose and the timing was so retarded it would barley run
Amen! You got lucky, eh? OK, here's a bit of an odd site. The guy loves Fairmont/Zephyrs so he posted his own 2 restos (a four-door sedan and a Z7 resto). His firm makes commercial videos. Andy and I both got these from different places. On the 4-door set of pages, you can navigate from the 'BACK/FORWARD' icons on the Left/Right of the page. The big plus is that he has printable engine compartment stickers, Factory body Parts lists for body shops, and electrical diagrams. It also looks like he modded his dash to use a Mustang II dash (4 guages and Tach): Main page for the 4-door: http://jpkvideoonline.com/commercial.htm Stickers page: http://jpkvideoonline.com/jpk_video_online_023.htm Parts and wiring pages: http://jpkvideoonline.com/parts sheets.htm http://jpkvideoonline.com/wire.htm Here's the Z7 restoration: http://jpkvideoonline.com/Z-7_Project/index13.html
yes i got lucky, the one problem i'm having now is removing the rear license plate holder with the reverse lights in it. i took the carpeted panel off and its solid behind it. so i took the license plate off no bolts or screws so i'm stumped on how to remove it
Ah, yes, the sneaky screws trick. You've got three or four screws on the inside of the tailgate door. If your tailgate has a carpet insert. you have to remove it. Use a drywall spatula and pry it off. It's glued with contact cement. Now there might be metal strips on the top and bottom of that carpet. They might be visible through the carpet. If so, take them out too, if not, peel off the carpet gently (for reuse), and take them out as they become visible. If you've got rear glass windshield wiper, it's two hex bolts are on the driver's side. Leave them alone. Once you get the rear box loose, the wiring connectors are right there, but there might be a ground screw to remove, AND DONE!
thats what threw me off mine has about 14 screws holding the carpet on and contact cement looks like they used a dump truck full lol. but i found the screws holding it in.... thanks alot bro i appreciate your help
You're welcome. The carpet might be a bit lumpy with that old glue. If you're not refinishing the t'gate, use some double-sided carpet tape to put it back on, until you get a chance. You'll need what they call binding tape (same color as the carpet) to replace the old stuff. OR, hehehe, use SEMS ColorCoat and spray the carpet and tape. The carpet will take too much color if you spray heavy coats, and it will get stiffer if you don't brush each section that you spray, (1-1/2 sq. ft. area, overlap the next section), between coats, within a minute or two of spraying. Do the next section, brush, wait 10 minutes before spraying the next coat). 3 coats will cover. You have to clean it first - soap and water, preferrably carpet soap, rinse clean. The vinyl edging (binding tape) will come out a shade lighter with a satin sheen. I did all of my original carpet, because it was in perfect shape and it came out great! http://www.sem.ws/product.php?product_id=190
