    Hi All.

Great to find a site dedicated to the humble station wagon.

Luckily here in Australia the station wagon has been a staple part of family life, and the two Australian specific builders, Holden and Ford, have usually produced a wagon variant of their sedans.

My wagon of choice is a 1991 EB Ford Fairmont Ghia.

The Fairmont Ghia was the top of the range choice with all the goodies 1991 had to offer, with electric everything, climate control, cruise control, special leather/cloth sports seats and alloy wheels.

My wagon came from the factory in Black Pearl, which I believe was an order only option. There a not many Fairmont Ghia Wagons, and even less in Black Pearl.

I bought the wagon in December 2009 for $400aus with registration.

Here is a photo of it when I bought it.

Over the last two years I have been constantly modding my wagon.

I have upgraded the interior to 1998 Fairlane spec, added a T5 manual transmission, and a 1998 4l OHC Ford six. The wagon also runs on LPG making it a very economical daily driver.

The suspension has been refurbished and lowered, and 17" alloy wheels added.

A bonnet graft from a 70s Aussie Falcon was completed and a few rust spots dealt with. I also installed an electric Hollandier sunroof. All work was carried out at home by me or my mates.

    As the wagon sits today.

I am currently working on upgrading the engine to the DOHC 4l six from our Aussie BA Falcon and adding injected LPG.

I hope you find my Aussie Wagon of interest.

    Cheers
    BenJ

That is awesome, love the work on it. Quite a transformation from what it was for sure and now looking to do a second motor swap, my kind of guy!

Still new here myself, so from one new guy to another, welcome.

If I win the Lottery, I'm going over and getting one. That is one awesome Fairmont. We never had hoods like that. Mustangs came close, but never on Falcons or Fairmonts. Awesome? Oh yeah!

I know that Holden and Ford ship to Brazil and South Africa too. One of them must have Left-hand drive dashes and steering systems.

A DOHC 4.0L Inline 6!?!? Would be worth the trip.:thumbs2:

Thanks for the positive comments guys.

The hood on my wagon is a custom job using a scoop from a 70s model XB GT Falcon, which was welded in by a talented friend.

    Cheers

BenJ, that is one hot looking wagon. You Aussies sure have good taste when it comes to modifying your long roofs. Excellent job. I'll bet it's a blast to drive.

Actually, that is not a turbo.

That is a Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) mixer. My car is dual fuel, and can run on either Petrol (gas) or LPG. LPG is less than half the cost of petrol per litre, and has a much higher rating. However, you use more LPG than petrol for the same distance. But it ends up being much cheaper to use on a daily basis. In addition it emits NO harmful gasses to the atmosphere, just water vapour.

LPG is a common mod here in Australia.

    Cheers

Oh there is room for 2 turbos in that engine bay. Ben's wagon it a truely great example and besides different front end panels the shell of this 91 model is almost the same as my 97 model. Looking foward to seeing the BA motor installed Ben. Oh before I forget, Have you had any luck getting the rear bumper finished yet?
