Ok, I finally made some time to tackle the surface rust blisters on lower door panels of my "new" wagon. I was happy to see that the door panels were in excellent shape after sanding. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima I've included below pictures of the progress so far. I'll be applying a couple of coats of paint more before polishing, updated pictures to follow once complete.

I usually use Noxema on blisters! :biglaugh: Great job! You won't be using any of that Stone Guard?

I hadn't thought of using stone guard as I wanted to retain the same paint surface as above. My idea is to finish with a 1" black stripe on extreme lower panel below the door. Is stone guard available in any color code?

Not that I know of. I used two spray cans (black, then grey primer, then painted (See my roller paint thread, here: Last post on this page: http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=711&page=6 )

It shines up nice. All the pictures after that post show it just as shiny at the rest of the car. From Page 13. I didn't have a digital camera until Page 13.

Also, the one I used was called Rock Guard.

Wouldn't have helped me. They don't make colour matches for Rustoleum! :rofl2:

H, This might be good to know for you. The site has a Printable version feature under the Tread Tools menu. If you get into a tiff with your Insurance Adjuster later on, you can use you're documentation here to support your claims. We've got No Fault insurance, and there's no way to argue, but any documentation would support a better settlement than none at all.

(He says, explaining why he's so verbose in his posts... ;))

One more thing. My Fairmont is MUCH shorter than yours. 2 cans was just enough for 2 coats on each side. I was sucking fumes at the end. You'd probably need 4. Buy 4 and return the unused one, if that's too much. CTC has the product, but a good bodyshop supplier would have better quality.

This one has a list of his sources - he's local to us 'Peggers.

Don't remember. Got it at the body supply in Madison. I THOUGHT it was called "Rock Guard" same as you used??? Maybe not ... but when you posted that it sure sounded familiar. Might have been Rock Shield or whatever....

That site you posted looks like that product is a FILM that goes OVER the paint. That's the way I read it anyway. The stuff I used was a spray paint.
