I have a 70 Buick Estate Wagon and the front passenger door will not open with either handle and the window motor has either shorted or the switch has gone bad.

Anybody have a secret to get door open so I can remove the door panel?

Every carthief in the world wants to know that. Every towtruck driver in the world has one of those door-jack bars. :D Best I can do. You have to catch the lock rod with a long thin bar and pull up. It should release/override the lock solenoid. Look at a shop manual to get the general location inside the door and grope for it with the bar.

    Thanks Unfortunately

Thats not the issue - I have tried that too many times. I,m not sure but I think the latch has seperated and neither lever is connected to release it.

I will post a thread if I get it open without using a cutting torch( I would never do that)

Check a manual. Honestly. The latches on the front doors are easier to get too. If you can visualize, more or less, where the short lock lever is on the latch, you should be able to 'feel-find' it. I'd use one of the old clothes hangers with about a 3/4" hook on the end.

Just in case though, you may wanna brush up on your torch-cutting skills.:rofl2:

You're in a good sized city (Been there, done that. :biglaugh:), so your library might still have some good manuals around. That's one place that I check first for odd ball stuff (pieces of string too short to use ;)).

    Hope it goes well.(y)
