Keep NMwagonlover in your thoughts and prayers. UPDATE

Posted on another forum by him,

"Well it's finally happened. After waiting for more than a year for a liver transplant, I just got the call an hour ago. Things are chaotic here as I try to get the Air Ambulance to get me to California in time. I am scheduled to go under the knife @ 8:00am PST. I've never been cut open before, and this is the grandaddy of'em all. Wish me luck. Will be in touch as soon as I am able to be.

    A very freaked out CaptCarl"

    Update from Carl
"Hey Everyone! Thanks for all the poitive thoughts you are all sending. I had tried to get on and leave a posting earlier, but the internet we have here at the palce where we are staying is a new experimental form of Slower-Than-Dial-Up-Wi-Fi, and half the time the laptop just loses everything in the middle of typing. Sorry 'bout that.
To bring you up to speed, I had the surgery a little over a week ago, and spent 6 days in the hospital recovering. It was NOT fabulous. It took Norm a few days to get here, driving the RV from NM, and running into bad weather. He got here the day before I was released. It was kinda lonely, but it was for the best I think. I would have hated to have him sitting around the hospital room, while I just sat there in a haze. Plus too, it was probably easier for him too, he didn't have to worry quite so much as he didn't see me during the worst of it. Sometimes things like this are harder on the people who care about us than it is on ourselves. So now we're just hanging out at the RV park overlooking the ocean, waiting until it is alright for me to go home. They do bloodwork 2 times a week, and I see the transplant team every tuesday. So far things are going along amazingly well, and all functions are almost normal. If they continue, I should be able to head home by the middle of January. When I get there, I have my project already started: When the call came, I was in the middle of putting the new driveshaft in Erma. Now she sits half finished in 10 inches of snow, patiently awaiting my return. Will post more later, gotta go now. Again, thanks for all the support!

    CaptCarl"

As the chihuahua said to the Irish setter, while discussing which dog would get lucky with the saucy French poodle that night:
    "Liver alone,dood! Cheez's with me!" :D

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Please check back in when you can, Carl.
