We went to a local bodyshop supply barbecue today, and I snapped this shot of Norm and his pride and joy!
Yeah you can just see the grin on his face.He should be very proud he has done in one year what take most 5 years or more to do and did it all with commonsense while being frugal. just goes to show that you don't have to spend a fortune to have a restored car.
Ain't she cute!? I just came back with the trailer loaded with 3 boxes of vinyl siding, all the facias and roof vent sheets, 10- 94 lb bags of Portland Cement, and the materials for my own awning design. 5-star-car! Thanks for letting me know about that. Neat stuff.
Even the SWMBO likes it! My ears got warmed over a few times. She'd be on my case about the painting in my workshop, then that I didn't eat enough, then 'that old interior was fine', and then I took her to the Airport - "So when will you start on your car?"
No! She wants this one! And Automatic too! She hates automatics! Didn't help that I plugged in her favourite Mexican Heart-throb's music, I guess... Over-sold just a tad, huh?
That's ok. I'll get my garage done and do the next one without a rain dance, swatting mosquitoes and cranking the Jazz on! And just to wind her up, I'll put a 4-speed stick in it!
I found her limit. One metric tonne (2,200 lbs.) of concrete gravel mix (sand and small stones) and a 400 lb trailer can do that. The front end wanted to go wild at 40 MPH (70 KPH). Backed her down to 60 K and happy. Not a power issue, just weight. Lot's of go, just to-and-fro limits. That's just 145 lbs less than the car itself, I weigh 165. Very light balancing act.
